This used to be a problem for me last year. Some times it was Ok, at certain times it wasn't. I was on a shared hosting plan and the hosting setup was the problem. I upgraded my host by switching hosting companies and things are much better now.

AlanMac is right. Usually the host or we'd see more of this. Go to the root. Who are you with?

Talk to GoDaddy There are 128 websites hosted on the same server address that you are on. This is not uncommon when you are paying for a shared plan.

Use Hostgator. Experience: my server started slowing down. Then I noticed an enormous and quickly growing error log file. Turns out I had a couple typos in a php file I was messing with, caused an infinite loop to start, bogging down the server.
