@broomla, I'm amazed, and incredibly intrigued at some of the things you managed to do here. Would you mind sharing some code and thoughts on these things? 1. Your AMAZING modification for the quiz 2. The music icon and interaction at the top right 3. The shaking icons (@madrod's question) 4. The header functions 5. The scrolling upwards text If not, totally understand, and amazing application nonetheless. Cheers!, David buzztouchmods.com

@broomla: Lots of love on this post for sure. Every now and then somebody creates something truly amazing. When they do, loads of folks get excited. You've done exactly that. At minimum, you have.... a) Inspired tons of folks to raise the bar by showing them how a little extra time and effort can go a very long way. b) Helped people understand that "anything is possible" when working with buzztouch. c) Set yourself up to make some serious money, this is easily a $5 app and I can assure you that if properly marketed, you'll make a considerable amount of sales. No ads = much more pro and a much higher value. d) Impressed the heck out of me. I've seen many thousands of BT based apps over the last few years and NONE of them are as pretty, fun, useful, and end-user-specific as this one. "End user specific" is the most important point here. Kids = big market. Russian = super targeted. These two facts position your app very well. Searching "Russion children" in the app store should produce your app on the first page. The best mobile apps are very very specific like this one because apps that "do too much" tend to drive users away. Awesome. Congratulations, can't wait to see the next one!

Thanks @ broomla for sharing your wonderful app! The one feature that is not working is when you click the email button, it says email not supported on this device. I am running your app on an iPhone 4, iOS 6 beta 2. Thanks again! Raoul EDIT: sorry, turns out it worked after I quit the app and killed all my apps. I was running to many things at once, so my phone froze and gave the pop up without looking for the email supported on device. Everything is working now, sorry.

I was impressed with his Phrase Book app, but this one.... Amazing stuff. I learned a ton from the code snippet you sent me from that app. I don't think your english is as poor as you think. Post what you can and we'll get it translated so everyone can understand. That is the one nice thing about code is that it is a universal language. Do you do all your own graphic designing? Start cranking your apps out in more languages. Happy to help you do some translating if you need that to get things going. You have a lot of talent and great artistic sense.

Hi guys, I want to place some code regarding shaking buttons... If you replace in the BT_screen_menuButtons.m a David's variant of -(void)fadeView:(UIView *)theView{ //fade out... [theView setAlpha:buttonOpacity]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:.1]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [theView setAlpha:0.5]; [UIView commitAnimations]; //then back in... [theView setAlpha:.1]; [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:nil]; [UIView setAnimationDuration:.2]; [UIView setAnimationDelegate:self]; [theView setAlpha:1.0]; [UIView commitAnimations]; } with following: -(void)fadeView:(UIView *)theView{ CAKeyframeAnimation * animation = [ CAKeyframeAnimation animationWithKeyPath:@"transform" ] ; animation.values = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: [NSValue valueWithCATransform3D:CATransform3DMakeTranslation(-5.0, 0.0, 0.0)], [NSValue valueWithCATransform3D:CATransform3DMakeTranslation(5.0, 0.0, 0.0)], nil] ; animation.autoreverses = YES; animation.repeatCount = 7.0; animation.duration = 0.07; [theView.layer addAnimation:animation forKey:@"animateLayer"]; } you'll get something about earthquake effect. So, I would like to say you can use many and many different effects you like. Off course, the native BT script can consist only one effect, but you can create as many as you want, like me: -(void)earthquakeView:(UIView *)theView{ CAKeyframeAnimation * animation = [ CAKeyframeAnimation animationWithKeyPath:@"transform" ] ; animation.values = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: [NSValue valueWithCATransform3D:CATransform3DMakeTranslation(-5.0, 0.0, 0.0)], [NSValue valueWithCATransform3D:CATransform3DMakeTranslation(5.0, 0.0, 0.0)], nil] ; animation.autoreverses = YES; animation.repeatCount = 7.0; animation.duration = 0.07; [theView.layer addAnimation:animation forKey:@"animateLayer"]; } //cat,cow -(void)zoomView:(UIView *)theView{ CABasicAnimation *animation = [CABasicAnimation animationWithKeyPath:@"transform.scale"]; animation.fromValue = [NSValue valueWithCATransform3D:CATransform3DMakeScale(1.0, 1.0, 1.0)]; animation.toValue = [NSValue valueWithCATransform3D:CATransform3DMakeScale(1.2, 1.2, 1.2)]; animation.repeatCount = 1; animation.autoreverses = YES; animation.removedOnCompletion = NO; animation.fillMode = kCAFillModeForwards; animation.duration = .6; [theView.layer addAnimation:animation forKey:@"animateLayer"]; } in this situation you must add -(void)earthquakeView:(UIView *)theView; -(void)zoomView:(UIView *)theView; in the BT_screen_menuButtons.h Thats all

@broomla I added your code as instructed - works great! Except I think you missed one thing? How do we instruct individual buttons to do different animations? I can get them all to do the earthquake animation, but what if I want one to do that, and another to fade? How to we do it separate for each button? Cheers, David buzztouchmods.com

I assumed it would be in the config.txt file, find the individual button you want to add a custom animation too, and edit the code for that specific button -- however no go - nothing found to modify there. Really would love to figure out how to add different animations to different buttons, rather then choosing one animation for all of them! Will keep trying and post the code if I figure it out! Without doubt, this is one of the best apps created with buzztouch, and a load of custom coding has gone into making it what it is. Coding that's taken a lot of time and effort and learning and maybe even cash. Am I the only person starting to feel a bit uncomfortable about this thread and everybody expecting the custom code to be shared? If @broomla wants to share in his own time, then great, if not there are plenty of tutorials on the net, and that's great too. Maybe it's just me...

Raveyd, Don't be a party pooper. The BT community are just excited to see someone who has set a standard and going above and beyond utilizing the Buzztouch framework as a starting point. Some of us asked if he could share his custom code and he voluntarily shared it. We are just trying to learn from him. The purpose of the BT forum is to share and assist each other in learning Buzztouch as well as IOS / Android language. And, I don't know about you but I came to the right place to learn. Thanks again Broomla for sharing your code. You have inspired the BT community. -MDG

hehe, a few people ask for code and a thousand leechers benefit. I seriously doubt most users would grab the code to 'learn'. Maybe that's me being cynical. Would @broomla have voluntarily shared his code without being pressed by maybe half a dozen posts? Maybe, maybe not, but I don't think we have a right to expect the code to be shared.

@raveyd, I totally get where your coming from, and I also get where @MDG is coming from. This is what I'll say on this subject. I would kill to see his source code, some of the things he did I just can't understand. He's a god. I've already started modifying what he gave me into a modification, and hopefully a plugin, this includes vibrating, pop-ups and rating. He's really inspired me to integrate more code into the source code then ever before. Really awesome stuff, I finally understand that even without plugins, we are not limited to the source code were given (took me long enough right?) His openness to share has inspired me and a few others. Now that's amazing. With that said, I also feel a little uncomfortable having him release this code, but having me ask him in a private message would be more selfish then asking here. In the end, I do believe that it's his choice to release or not release the code. Right now I think that some people here want the code to learn, others to implement, both are genuine good reasons to want this code. I believe that others will share too and follow in his foot steps. But until we become selfish, ungrateful and expecting, I think its fair to ask, and if he decides so, to give us source code snippets. (but yes again, when he gives code, and people keep asking for more, it doesn't seem so genuine, I get what your saying @rave) I have yet to really fully have a opinion on this.. it's a tough one. Would love to know what David's opinion on this one is. Just my two cents. Cheers, David. buzztouchmods.com

I can agree with diferent sides of the topic. I being someone with little knowledge of programing, It's just not my thing. So I have to find a way building apps using code users share. I think buzz touch shares its code and plugins for free, so does David in his buzztouchmods, some code is free some code is payed, maybe there code he doesn't share. If this user that managed to get the bt code for free and created a great app with some nice add-ons to the code, if he share's for free or wants to sell its up to him, won't offend me. I understand what raveyd says, that we can google for these tweeks, for users like me it's not that easy, cause code isn't instictive, most of the time I don't understand what the code is doing, I mean, I read the code I insert, but I couldn't create it on my own, or tweak it a bit. So or I get code to use with BT code and screens and its way of working, or it won't be much of use for me. I don't think that I deserve the code any more or any less then any other BT user beacause of that. Cheers to all. P.S: My kids, don't understand a word of this app, but love it.... And I did buy the app as a thank you, maybe its a way for us to give back.

@MrDavid and @MadRod, I think MDG's 'Partypooper' comment only affirms my opinion. If @broomla wants to share his code, then that's brilliant, all respect to him. Everyone 'learns' and benefits - except broomla. He openly shares his code and loses his market advantage when all the copycat apps and functionality start appearing on the marketplace within days of sharing. Coz you've gotta believe, that for every person who posts on the forum, there are another 10 or more who contribute nothing and grab code simply for their own benefit. His app deserves to stand out and be a success, not get sent to obscurity amongst all the copycats. Anyway, I'm glad that a couple of people do at least feel a little bit uncomfortable about how this thread appears to be driving @broomla into a corner to share his code. That's my 2 cents. @broomla, do whatever you like mate, your app deserves to be successful.

I agree with you raveyd, there will be copycats. But this is a diferent app made having BT as base code, but it's not nothing that I haven't seen before. But I feel a bit like you do. And whatever he decides to do, is the right thing to do. Cheers

Good stuff... thank you @broomla, you rock. If we all decide to stop sharing, to stop giving out snippets of code, ideas, functions, buzztouch would be a sad place... for plugins are exactly that. If people stop making plugins and giving those out, then the whole premises for what buzztouch is doing is taken away. What's the point of plugins then? Not much room for development other then all of us taking the journey alone, and why take it alone. We all have opinions, none of us are wrong or right, lets just move on.. and one last thing @broomla, don't feel bad - were not fighting, were just all learning from each other ;) we're all good friends in this community. Thank you for your code contributions, but feel no need to give more away if you don't want too! here's my small small contribution to this thread: ------------------------------------------------------------ you can use this to make the phone vibrate upon button touch ------------------------------------------------------------- #import <AudioToolbox/AudioToolbox.h> // The one-liner: AudioServicesPlaySystemSound (kSystemSoundID_Vibrate); // The function: - (void)vibrate { AudioServicesPlaySystemSound (kSystemSoundID_Vibrate); } // The call from within another method in the same class: - (void)myMethod { } make sure to add [self vibrate]; BT_screen_menuButtons.m ----------------------------------------- add AudioToolbox Framework to BT project ----------------------------------------- Cheers, David buzztouchmods.com

haha! don't feel bad @broomla, we all get on pretty well, we all have our opinions though! People should feel free to share, of course, but not pressured into feeling they HAVE to share, which was my take, rightly or wrongly, on how this thread was evolving.

I see what you mean, what I was talking about was all based on free will sharing. I wouldnt want him to feel pressured into releasing code - your right - THATS where the line is drawn. Cheers! David buzztouchmods.com

For me is more preferable if we'll have the same hot discussion regarding Obj-C. Moreover, please remember Buzztouch was created for it ! And I'm not idiot. I clearly know what I'm doing... I don't feel any pressure. Anyway, thanks to those who feel a little bit uncomfortable and thanks to all who feel good. And if someone had an insomnia you can buy my app, like did some of us or you can "add friend" on the facebook, or you can do nothing. Let's move on. I will share as many snippets as I'll decide.

Hello, guys. Want to share some code for rotating camomile in audio player Actually, this is one part of few snippets: So let's get started Below we're added the camomileSound UIImageView -(void)playAudio{ //modified added camomile rotate when Sound starts CABasicAnimation *fullRotation; fullRotation = [CABasicAnimation animationWithKeyPath:@"transform.rotation.z"]; fullRotation.fromValue = [NSNumber numberWithFloat:0]; fullRotation.toValue = [NSNumber numberWithFloat:2*M_PI]; fullRotation.duration = 2.0; fullRotation.repeatCount = HUGE_VALF; fullRotation.cumulative = YES; fullRotation.additive = YES; fullRotation.removedOnCompletion = NO; fullRotation.fillMode = kCAFillModeForwards; fullRotation.delegate = self; [[camomileSound layer] addAnimation:fullRotation forKey:@"animateLayer"]; //end } about camomileSound UIImageView I will talk in the next thread but not so bad idea if someone will try thinking a little bit :) Cheers

Hi, guys. I would like to tell you I place here snippets for rotating camomile which located on the bottom of BT_screen_audio So, the second part... I've just changed a little bit David's code and added camomileSound UIImageView on the toolbar which located in the BT_viewUtilities.m -(void)viewDidLoad { //toolbar frame toolbar = [BT_viewUtilities getAudioToolBarForScreen:self:screenData]; [toolbar setFrame:[BT_viewUtilities frameForToolBarAtOrientation:self:self.screenData]];//modified added frame camomileSound = (UIImageView *)[toolbar viewWithTag:538];//modified added [self.view addSubview:toolbar]; } If you are thoroughly will read the +(UIToolbar *)getAudioToolBarForScreen: in the BT_viewUtilities.m, I know, you can create the camomileSound UIImageView. So after this you can try to start rotate the camomile... Don't forget about @synthesize and [camomileSound release]; camomileSound = nil; in the BT_screen_audio. Cheers, broomla
