WMS with Buzztouch

Hello everyone, I just wanted to see if anyone has ever used WMS layers on a buzztouch app? I was thinking perhaps using an custom HTML/Text plug-in in the app to call an html page that would be used to call the WMS layers.. but I wanted to get some feedback from the community to see if anyone has ever tried this on buzztouch? Thanks in advance for any help Fredd

Hi Outbreak, thanks for your quick reply. WMS - Web Map Service : is basically spatial layers that are served over the internet to create maps and such. ArcGIS has a WMS plug in for IOS and more information can be found here: http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgismobile/10.0/apis/iOS/2.2/concepts/index.html#/WMS_Layer/00pw0000005z000000/ There are several open source applications that handle WMS data for web apps, but I haven't come across that many that deal with WMS data for mobile apps, except the plug in of ArcGIS. So, I was wondering if anyone has ever worked with this on buzztouch or has any information. Thanks again

I have not used WMS before. I did use a KML file that when opened would show in the google earth app. It was a decent overlay. -Shane

Thanks for the reply. Did you use a plug in for this or was it all in HTML?

I believe I had it hosted on my own server. I think I linked it to the file with the url plugin. When it was opened it prompted the user to open Google Earth utilize it. -Shane

I "will" be building a WMS, but as of yet haven't gotten to that point. I'd like to use my own maps to serve my community, rather than pawn off of Google, Bing, OSM or others... I've been thinking about either Mapserver.org http://www.mapserver.org/ or perhaps geoserver. http://geoserver.org/display/GEOS/Welcome But haven't gotten 'that' far with it yet. Cheers! -- Smug Edit: I use GlobalMapper... ArcGIS costs too darn much!
