Is there a way to configure a measurement using the phones camera

For example, taking a picture of a wall, and itll tell me the measurements, or a floor. I havent seen anything on it Edit: I seen some that you have to manually put in measurements yourself, was wondering if there was technology that it measures for you.

Interesting post @ceerup, I actually have a client nwo that wants to measure something from a photo. But the important thing is they have something else in the pic that is relative, think CSI when they take a photo of evidence and have a 90 degree ruler that shows the relevant size of the object. @ceerup,if you have a look at github there are some code examples there of working with images etc and looking at some of the 'measuring' apps they mainly use trigonometry calculations to work out distance and height. theoretically for straight forward measurement of smaller things, you should be able to use calculations based on image size vs image resolution(think 96 or 72 dpi) to work out the approximate (very rough!) distance between two points in a (flat)photo.
