App Sales Averages

Hello, just curious about what sort of sales averages people are having through Apple. Nothing specific as far as type of apps. Just wondering if anyone would like to share how many app sales they are getting monthly, etc. Thanks!

2 older neglected apps in extreme need of updating, 1 fairly old app, and 1 newsstand magazine, averages about $10 a day ($300 a month) for me. They could do a LOT better if I'd get around to updating them, but those were before the days of Buzztouch... I think I need to re-write them in BT instead of updating them... just don't have the right plugins to do so. They still account for about 25% of my daily sales combined. The other app, about a year old, counts for over half my daily revenue, and the newsstand magazine for the remaining 25%. It's nothing to write home about, but hey, it's a car payment each month basically, and I've neglected my coding duties for a very long time... still have not released a buzztouch app... I have one that I've been working on a very long time, and want to get it right before I release it. Up to 400 screens, and it's not even close to halfway there.

What form of marketing do you do, was it all it the beginning or is it on going?

I actually don't do any. I let Apple do 100% of my advertising for me. No ads in my apps, no press releases, no social media, no youtube... nada. I have friends that do, and the difference between their sales and mine are almost not even measurable, and they've gone through both a ton of time and money in their marketing efforts. I personally believe that people have become immune to mobile and social media marketing, at least compared to the beginning... I could be way off base, but thats just my experience so far

I made a college info app back in 2012 and just cross-promoted with other organizations around campus. I would put up a splash screen ad and a button in the app and they would post the app on their Facebook page. Would get a 10-20 download bump from them. 1300 downloads in a year. Peak of about 45 downloads the first school day last August. Ryan

I have been averaging about 10 a day for the last month. No advertising yet. Just word of mouth. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/vehicle-buying-coach/id639820948?ls=1&mt=8 Wish it was a little better

Typically my apps are made 'for my area', so of course downloads don't even come close to others… But my free 'Over Here Guam!' app gets about 3 to 4 downloads per day since release 7 months ago. Eventually that will end; there are only so many people on the island, lol! No advertising or promoting (other than the company Facebook followers) No banner advertising (yet, but accomodations have been made) in the app. Cheers! -- Smug Edit: Everything I do is released in both Android and iOS. I don't include features on one that are not available on the other. Again, this is kind of like a big small town out here, so I have to accomodate everyone pretty much equally. Also, data costs a little extra, so not everyone has an 'all you can eat' data plan, so network usage is also 'not a guarantee' so I have to keep that in mind as well.

Thank you guys very much for the feedback. Are many of you only creating the apps for Apple or also Android?

Developing also on Android. Have had far more sales on Apple of course although I’ve had a lot of requests for an Android version of the dancing app through the apps' FB page. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Irish-Dancing-Apps/206872809495144?ref=hl Will be interesting to see if the downloads will match the Apple ones... doubt it though.

3 apps put on itunes a year ago. One gets 1 a day roughly, another has been consistent at 30-40/day, and the final one was in the 100+/day for 5 or 6 months and has slowly reduced to between 20-30/day. All free apps. Charboost i'm getting between 0$-2$ daily.
