Google Play Android Marketplace

Looking for experiential feedback from fellow Android App makers, with Google Play. I created my account, Paid the $25 fee. (grrr) Set up the Google Wallet and Google Merchant Account. Waited a day, because with all of that, there were no errors and nothing went wrong! Yesterday I created my first project and the storefront. Nothing went wrong -except one graphic was too small, and I had to quick re-size it. And except I was looking for a "Preview" button, to see how my project would look, with all of the 7-inch and 10-inch graphics I uploaded. Today, I *hope* to tackle adding the APK. I finished my APK 2 weeks ago. Have been testing it occasionally over the 2 weeks, looking to see if anything changed. All is well. What should I expect to "go wrong" in adding the APK? :) Forewarned is forearmed! I am thinking I will need to export the Project out of Self-Hosted Control Panel again, as I want to change the name (again, so it sorts alphabetically better on the device).

Common mistake is not signing the APK correctly. Add the keytool to Eclipse and it makes it much easier. Keep this and your password some where safe because you cannot do any updates with it! LA

I second what LA says. I was stuck for probably a week or so because of invalid signing... very frustrating but got there in the end. Make sure you do it right! Thanks Ed

OK - I'm not recognizing any specific menu option in Eclipse to sign... are you generically referring to something in the Export process? Regarding the keystore? I think I have the keystore under control.

Will do! Mark's Tutorials are the best. His on installing Eclipse for OSX, corrected several errors in tutorials by others. It will be worth the watch, just to reinforce what I did for each of the 16 Apps I created 2 weeks ago.

I lost 10 hours yesterday, because one of my software programs that I use to earn a living, crashed, and the company was awful about tech support. I'll get on this, in a few hours.

Want to double-check about the Design vs Live. Is this config.txt or another file? About Live or Design Mode Change this manually in Xcode or Eclipse. Set this to "Live" before you publish to the App Store or Market. ^^^ This instruction is painfully vague.

OK, good. Because in Eclipse, and Xcode, sometimes we edit config.txt, sometimes Manifest, sometimes various XML files.

How do you view a Preview of your Google Play store listing? I uploaded screen caps and text, but there's no Preview. Also, it says I should upload a video. Best I can tell, there is no built-in screen capture video for Android 4.1, as there is screen capture still image. I found an App called Recordable, but install fails. I'd kind of like to do screen record, but if all else fails, I could use my camera, and trim my nails. I can't use Simulators/Emulators from my Mac desktop computer, because they don't do the Map plugin, and the heart of my App is the locationMap!

Just like the App store, you cant preview your app until its live. The link to it on the left of the publish button. It will say "View in Google Play Store". The url for all google play apps are this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yourAppName the com dot whatever above, at the end of the link is also next to the view in google play store link . its all lowercase though and not uppercase like the link above. You can hire someone on fiverr to record the video or use these suggestions: https://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=7F5A5FEEA0A58C8570D681A&command=isSearching&currentPage=1&topicTitle=&createdBy=smugwimp&repliedBy=&minViews=-1&maxViews=-1&minReplies=-1&maxReplies=-1&forumCategory=

OK. I would be surprised if gmail put a mail from Google (anything) in spam, but I will check again. Nope. No spam. It has been on "Draft In Prod" since Thursday evening. "Looks like everything is going well You don't have any recent alerts" is there a button I don't see, that I need to push?

Yes, I was right! In Pricing & Distribution, I had gone in and fixed all of the prices and saved them. But there also were two checkboxes at the bottom, with then another Save button at the top. All those sliding java windows is like chasing a greased pig. It is now publishing.

I don't let publishing platforms automatically set Euro or GBP prices based on USD exchange rate. I use the example of Apple.com vs. apple.co.uk and apple.de. iPad Air from $499 http://store.apple.com/us/buy-ipad/ipad-air (plus tax = ~$538) iPad Air from £399 http://store.apple.com/uk/buy-ipad/ipad-air (with 20% VAT tax) iPad Air from €479 http://store.apple.com/de/buy-ipad/ipad-air (with 20% VAT tax) None of the conversions to GBP or Euro are based on the current exchange rate with the USD, of 1.68 for the GBP (would be £355 w/tax), and 1.34 (would be €445 w/tax) for the Euro. So I set my foreign country prices manually (for GBP and EUR), otherwise they would be cheating me. I next need to study the Asian and South American currencies. Canada CAD and Australia AUD are very close to USD, so I don't fiddle with them right now. And I probably should look at India, since someone from a call center there lied to me the other day. That and those countries are really rich compared to the US.
