Help with GPS Tracking system.

Hi Everyone. I need some help. I have a customer that want a app that can get info from GPS Tracker. 1. The tracker send data to the server with GPS coordinates, tracker ID. 2. The app is pretty simple. it is a map. you can see trackers on it. :) but now I want it to push me when a tracker is about 5km from my position. The map take the tracker info from the server if the tracker GPS info is 5km close to my position geofence, I get a local push. When a open the app I see the map whit my position and I see the tracker that is close to me. If someone have done this or is interested to build a plugin to BT Backend contact me. Or if someone already knows a complete system or open source or something similar so you can well post a link here. //Macki

I'd ask Smug, he's done a lot with GPS tracking and positioning.

I've created a tracking system, but it's far from what you're asking; it uses hardware that uses SMS to transmit location, such as this model here (I've been using the TK-103B, but have switched to the TK-106 due to added requirements) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-GPS-TK106B-GPS106B-GPS-tracker-Fuel-temperature-sensor-2sim-card-slot-SDcard-/281204318944?pt=US_Tracking_Devices&hash=item41791562e0 Yours would have to use network; you can't send an SMS without user intervention. There are many 'backend' systems already available, do a search for 'Fleet Management' and a few options will pop up. You can start here to get an idea of what's available: http://www.capterra.com/fleet-management-software/ If I write something for the network, I'll let you know. Cheers! -- Smug I did a search for 'open source fleet tracking software' and got a bunch of interesting hits, such as this one: http://opengts.sourceforge.net
