Wait Screen for Data URL Update

This morning, I fired-up my Bank's mobile banking App, and a screen came up advising me to wait while the App updated itself, and showed a progress screen. I liked that, and would like to add that to my App, for when the App finds new data at "Data URL" to download, or the user manually taps the "refresh" button. Have you implemented such a feature on your App?

Yep, see my solution here: https://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=C02498F2E8BB74B6B98EBBB It displays whatever you like during the launch, and also when the user hits the refresh key. See the live demo of my app here for an example: http://angryninjas.com/universal-studios-orlando-app/

The Blue circle with the little white animations is nice. The one my Bank App had was a progress indicator... 0% to 100%.

The blue circle animation is App.io for the simulator. That part is not coded within Dave's app. :-) -- Niraj

"That part is not coded within Dave's app. :-) " Really? Then why did he give it as a live example of what I was looking for?

It was a live example of the loading page that is displayed, not the animation.

Yes, the App looks great. The animation comes on, after I click on the "tap" button. The little animation looks good, but I would like to take it to the next level, in the form of a progress bar or text 0%-100%.

Thats not a buzztouch animation, or mine. It's from the simulator, App.io. It is not related to the project at all, and isn't even in the app whatsoever. I was simply showing you the loading screen that comes up AFTER the app.io interface loads the project.

OK, but the point of this thread was how to create a "wait screen"... So, you don't offer that?

Not sure what you are referring to... I showed you how to do a wait screen. If you mean an animated progress icon, then nope, I don't have anything for that.

Too funny! Nicks is enamored with the two alternating circles that has nothing to do with iOS code. I can understand how he got confused. Sometimes words just get in the way of a simple explanation. Nicks -- are you a developer, I think you are, based on all the PHP you have referenced on other posts. Do you know ObjC and iOS programming? -- Niraj

How about a .gif instead of just a .png that ninja uses to replace the splash screen plugin. OR use the animated splash screen plugin Dave

I have no idea of "what" Ninja uses. The comments here are too vague as to what is his coding, and what is the simulator's. Plus I'm getting too many "Peanut gallery" snide distractive comments. I know people get points for replying, but I'm racking up too many points trying to filter reason and to stay on track here, and not enough progress. When I click on my App's "refresh" button, I see a translucent grey overlay (I believe they're called "Modal" screens) with a spinning wheel - in both the iOS simulator as well as on my iPhone. My Bank's App was a white box with black print, stating the App was refreshing/downloading, with a text statement of the progress 0%-100%. The big thing I liked about my Bank's App was the 0%-100% progress statement. If you're standing on a sidewalk in an unfamiliar place, and your phone has a Modal Screen with a spinning wheel, you kind of wonder what's up. The 0%-100% progress statement gave me something to go by.

Ok, gotcha, sorry I thought you were referring to the white transitional loading screen that pops up when you refresh or upon launch, not the spinning progress loader.
