A tip for faster Android emulators

I recently found a tool that made Android testing with emulators a much happier experience for me. It's called GenyMotion (www.genymotion.com). It's free, and has a few dozen devices from 4-5 manufacturers available. You just have to install VirtualBox (www.virtualbox.org), which is also free, then install GenyMotion, then follow the simple instructions on the GenyMobile site to add devices. You can easily hook it up to your Eclipse install, and load up apps to test. I found the emulators lightning fast compared to the Eclipse ones, and it's great to quickly load apps on a variety of devices to test layouts or debug issues. I have only used the Mac version, so I can't speak to Windows, but given my success I would recommend anyone try it out.

Wow! What an improvement. It takes just a little time to download the two software packages and then some more to download a particular device emulator. But it's worth it. For Eclipse plugin: https://cloud.genymotion.com/page/doc/ Whereas previously I struggled getting emulators to do anything at all, let alone quickly, this is now lightning fast!

For me it works great. I got it for the sole purpose of testing Buzztouch apps. I haven't checked every device emulator that GenyMotion offers, and I haven't tried it on Windows, but for the couple of devices I've tried so far on my mac, it's the Android emulator I've always wanted.
