Powerpoint pluggin step by step run through

Hi, I'm very new to buzztoutch and I cannot get the powerpoint/word/pdf pluggin to work. I'm not sure how to upload my powerpoint file from my computer (I don't have a website of my own so can't use URL) into Xcode so the plugin finds it. I'm always getting an error that says "data from this screen has not been downloaded. Please check your internet connection". I would really appreciate a simple but very thorough run through of how to use this plugin to upload my computer power points to my app please! Thanks everyone!

Hi welcome to buzztouch! Have you dragged the file to the directory BT_Docs? It should work if you haven't done so. Also, if you would like to continually update the file you could use a service such as Dropbox or copy.com to host your file and copy the URL.

Hi, yes I've dragged it into BT_Docs but still comes up with the error in the simulator.....its a mystery. Thanks for the suggestion of trying through dropbox though I will try that now.

Update your config file data in ios to match with buzztouch. Some times it causes this to happen

sorry didnt realize it was iOS. try refreshing the app and redownloading the project again if your changing it through the control panel without downloading it again. Not usually the problem but happens every now and then .Also try uploading it to your website and just use the url like that. for example www.yourWebSite.com/yourPdf.pdf

it might also be permissions set on it through dropbox maybe if they have privacy settings you can set on dropbox files.

This will probably sound very patronising, so sorry. You might need to replace the config file. You can do this by going into your Control Panel (Buzztouch) and selecting 'Configuration Data'. Then copy all this into the BT_config.txt file in Xcode replacing what was already there. If this defeats you, a re-download of the source code might work best, but remember to put the documents back. You also need to make sure that the documents are in Xcode, not just finder. Simply dragging them into the finder folder, it won't appear on Xcode, so just make sure it's there! Also, make sure that the Buzztouch control panel has the correct file name with extension. It's caps-sensitive, so do make rue to get it right!

Hey guys, thanks for your help. It's not patronising, it's exactly the information I need! Still doesn't seem to be working. Definitely saved in Xcode, definitely spelt correctly, replaced my config file. It seems to be linking better now, none of the original error but it now says "Unable to read document." Does it need to be .ppt or .pptx or any of the other formats?

Some success! managed to link via URL dropbox, thanks CMCOFFEE! It must have been privacy settings on dropbox which I changed. Still can't directly upload to Xcode but thats ok for the moment. Thanks for all the support, I'm loving learning all this stuff!

I would convert the PPT file to PDF by printing to PDF format. That way, the layout and font and images and drawings are faithfully rendered. Otherwise, you are leaving it to the fates on rendering the PPT the way iOS wants to do it. There always be a glitch of some sort when viewing MS Office files in their native format on an iOS device. Only Microsoft has the actual code to do faithful rendering of MS Office documents. -- Niraj
