Obtaining Identities

I'm trying to validate an archived app and for some reason I'm getting the message that there are no identities available and I should download. I click on the button that says it will do it for me but it comes back with the message that An Administrator must request identities before they can be downloaded. I know I have to go to the Development Center but could someone please tell me what to do from there? It's been a long time since I've dealt with this particular thing. ThI should also say that in my keychain are current and valid developer and distributer certificates. Thanks. Steve

Hi Steve, If not done already, you'll need to setup your certificates, your app id's, and your provisioning profiles in the dev portal. If you need help with those, Google is your best bet... It's not the simplest thing to do if this is your first time doing it. Once you've done it a few times, it becomes easier. At least it's much easier now that xcode imports them all for you, unlike the old days, but everything has to match up just right in your dev portal

As I said when editing my original post, I have valid certificates in my keychain already. Don't understand why Xcode says what it says.

Did you setup your app id's and provisioning profiles in the dev center? These are separate from certificates

Well, I went back and slogged through the development center and finally downloaded a new distribution profile which worked. They certainly make you jump through tons of hoops. Thanks all. Steve

Hi Steve. There could be many reasons you are getting those errors. First, are you trying to update an existing app, or are you trying to upload a new one with older provisioning profiles? Allan

Steve, You are not alone on this because the last 2 Apps, I had to create new profiles to download for each one for both of them to upload to iTUNES! Not sure if this is the norm but it works! LA
