Errors with a new download

I just downloaded a new source code and imported into Eclipse. With that I have over 300 errors, mostly in the src folder and some in the manifest file. I had this problem previously, and changing to API 11 and Java Compile to 1.6 resolved most of the problems, but this time it did not work. Any suggestions? Thanks, Howard

I suspect it may be the 'Google Play Services' are not added to your project. Check out this document and see if it helps any (this only applies to BTv3). https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/GPSRefBT.pdf My last couple of downloads didn't have google play services (normal), but also didn't have the 'google-play-services-remove.jar' file, which is 'usually' in the app to keep errors away until the developer had a chance to do the GooPlaySvc config. Just a thought. Cheers! -- Smug

Hi Smug, you did help me previously with this and I did download "Google Play Services" last time. I didn't do it this time because I was not sure if I do once is it good to go for all projects or do I have to add it to all the projects that I download and if I download and import a fresh project?? Thanks, Howard

Well, I thought 'we didn't have to'… but if the 'google-play-services-remove.jar' file is NOT in your project, then it's a fair bet that this is the reason for all the errors. We'll have to hear from David if this is a 'hiccup' or if this is a new design. but until we figure it out it's one, or the other. :) If it has the 'google-play-services-remove.jar' you should be ok. If it does not have the 'gooplaysvc-remove.jar' file, you'll have to add Google Play Services. Cheers! -- Smug Maybe if one of your other projects has the google-play-services-remove.jar file, you can make a copy and 'add' it to this project. Theoretically it should be the same as if it were downloaded.

In a different time, in a different world, I programmed huge lighting systems for a Japanese lighting company out of Tokyo, who distributed American made products. The Manufacturers rep and I got to be pretty good friends. It's been so long, I've forgotten just about everything. But the one nugget, the one phrase that has stuck in my mind all these years is: "The book of 'by the way' is far larger than the manual will ever be." -- Harold Emert Cheers! -- Smug
