Updating iOS app but increasing the price question

This may be a dumb question, but I have an app live on the iOS AppStore for .99 cents. I just created an update that will replace that app bit I am going to increase the amount to 1.99$ my question is this: will the exsisting users have to pay .99 cents to get the update?

No. Once you've bought the app, you get all updates for free, regardless of any price increases for new users. Mark

Darn, I worked so hard on this update... Not to sound money hungry but is there any options to somehow get an extra $ or so other than putting a donate button in there?

I could be wrong, but I'm thinking your options are really only two: 1) Release it as a different app, for a higher price. Keep your current app as 'lite'. 2) New content as an 'In app purchase'. Sorry there isn't much else… Cheers! -- Smug

Yep, Smug is correct. And it's really only fair to the end user...if they've already bought the app, unless it's a totally new version, or you update it to include In App Purchase content, then they really should get all updates for free. That's a software standard. Mark
