Trouble setting up self hosted

Hi guys, Trying to get my self-hosted cp set up using this trusty guide: https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/RDs_Updated_EC2_Self-hosting_Guide.pdf Everything was going along great until I got to the buzztouch 3.0.0 installation page. I entered the user credentials I created in phpmyadmin, and I cannot get them to work. I've double checked them and repeated the steps several times, and it is such a straightforward step to get stuck on, I am thinking I may have made a more complex mistake somewhere along the line. If this situation rings any bells for anyone, please let me know. Thanks! This is the error I get when I try to enter my credentials: There was a problem connecting to the database server. Are you sure you entered the proper user credentials? Server is usually localhost, User Name and Password could be just about anything! Ask your server's administrator if you're unsure.
