It's lucky not many people on buzz touch use there apps to sell physical goods. If you look at more in detail at the report, it also states that a lot of mobile apps link out of the app to safari to make there purchases, so this will amount to some skew in the results. Personally I use amazons mobile app rather than amazon, i love ebays app compared to the website. Not enough time and effort is put into making an app these days to sell things even big publishers decide it is easier to send them to safari than mess around with API's. Paypal has an excellent API and great tutorials but again people don't use them because it is easier to send them off somewhere else and because you own the site you can hook them back in afterwards. I also feel the consumer may not always feel security of an app compared to using web page.

I think its up to retailers to entice users to use an app instead of the web. Tying loyalty cards or points as well as the purchase process in the app is what will move consumers to an app (IMO). Starbucks has done it successfully. Right now I don't think it is easy enough for small and medium sized retailers to implement this sort of tech. I hope that someone comes along and opens up this sort of tech (rewards tracked in app) to small and medium sized businesses. http://www.mobilecommercedaily.com/magnolia-bakery-sweetens-the-offer-via-mobile-loyalty-payments-app http://www.forbes.com/sites/stevenbertoni/2014/02/21/how-do-you-win-the-mobile-wallet-war-be-like-starbucks/
