iOS 7.1 breathes new life into my iPhone 4

Impressed. With each iOS upgrade it seems my old iPhone 4 got slower and slower, but this morning I installed the new 7.1 and I am very pleased. Animations are snappier. Screens load faster. Heck, even my home screen button actually works 9 times out of 10 now. Now I think I can actually hold out for the iPhone 6 :-)

That's good to hear. Apple improving backwards comparability with an older device. I think pigs just flew.

That is indeed good news! I have 7.0.x on my iPhone 4 now, and can barely tolerate it. Maybe the upgrade will kick some new life into it! Mark

That is good news. I've kept 6.0.1 on mine since Mark told us about his experience, lol! Very cool indeed! Cheers! -- Smug

first gen iPad? You might mean 2nd Gen iPad? Unless you jailbroke or something, and if so, let me know how, lol! But I have a 1st Gen iPad stuck at iOS 5.1 Cheers! -- Smug

I just checked mine, and it still says 'iOS v5.1.1, your software is up to date'. Do you recall doing anything special? It 'asked' you to update? or did you initiate an update somehow…? I'd love to update the OS on my 1st Gen to 7.1; it's an oldie, but it's in great condition and I don't want to retire it just yet… Cheers! -- Smug

Similar happened when we moved from iOS 4 to 5 -- the iOS adjustments for the older hardware came at the 5.1.1 release. Thanks for the good news!
