@MrDavid - nice! what kind did you get? I got a new MBP Retina recently myself. Was a nice trade for an app for a buddy.

@Chris Got the wife and I two 27 inch iMacs for coding, the space for all the code and websites are mind blowing. The only sad part is I doubt we can drag two huge iMacs over to Code Camp... lol! Never had Retina, but I imagine it's more HD then real-life from what I hear? :-) David https://btmods.com/chat/

actually, the graphics aren't what sold me. I suppose they're better than what I had before. But better, I have a 15" screen instead of a 13", and when I run a simulator it doesn't need to be shrunk down to fit on the screen. More importantly, it has a quad-core processor and a ssd drive, making compiling apps super efficient. I can load up Eclipse in about 2 seconds (compared to a cup of coffee before, lol).

@Chris You just got me stoked with that Eclipse line, does the Android Emulator work faster? I swear I could go grocery shopping and back by the time the thing loads on my Macbook Pro. Heading over to Eclipse.org ;-) David

I also have a MBP 15" Retina, 16G RAM and 256G SSD, I just wish I could have afforded to go bigger with the SSD, but I do have the 3TB time capsule so thats where most of my stuff is stored. As for the Retina display, it's good but I think it is mostly marketing hype in imho. As for the Android Emulator, it is still horribly slow (so its not a processor or memory problem that makes it slow)

Android emulator seems to run much faster for me than my old computer did. Still not as quick as the iOS simulator, but much better than before. I went with last year's model of MBP, as I could get a quad-core for about the same price as a dual-core of the current year with the new PCI SSD hard drive. Figured I would rather have 4 cores than a faster hard drive when it comes to doing app development.

I plan on upgrading my SSD soon. I have the 2012 model MBP so the SSD is removable. Other World Computing has the 480G SSD with an included external case to hold your old SSD that you remove (so you can have an extra external SSD) all for around $600
