HTML5 trumping iOS among app developers in emerging mobile markets

Got this in my ZDnet mail, very interesting info here with reference to the mobile developer mindshare by global regions. Since the BT audience is global, it's interesting that there's not a whole lot more Android talk in the forums, considering this 2014 infographic shows that overall Android leads the pack starting in 2014. Like the title says HTML5 growing in emerging mobile markets, something to think about when developing. As a mobile newbie, this is good info when proposing app projects to clients. http://www.zdnet.com/html5-trumping-ios-among-app-developers-in-emerging-mobile-markets-7000026086/ Ed

I don't mind developing in Android; the code isn't that much different than Xcode/ObjC to me… But the interface. That drives me up a tree. I've been seriously considering, since Google Play is a bit more lenient, of using a lot more HTML5 in my Android creations, purely because with HTML5/CSS I have a lot more 'working knowledge' of how to arrange objects across a wide variety of devices, rather than the cumbersome XML layouts for android native. We'll see how it goes. Nice share. Interesting. Thanks! Cheers! -- Smug

Developers will naturally and automatically gravitate to the world's most widely available programming language -- JavaScript. It runs on any Computer, on all Continents. Apple has already acknowledged that China is their next land of opportunity. I wonder how they plan on wooing the developers in that market. It will be a hard-sell for Apple to say, "Hey buy a more expensive computer to jump onto our ship". With having to learn a trio of Eclipse-Java-Android, many PC-based Web developers are shrugging and saying, "It is good enough, way easier to do it in HTML, JS and CSS". Both Google and Apple will have to treat the developers of emerging markets differently. New and different tooling is essential for adoption of the iOS and Android development platforms. Thanks for the share, Ed. -- Niraj

Html5 is also great for prototyping different things, games especially can be great to do in html 5 and tested on all platforms. Thanks for the article.
