Changing Name as it Appears on the Device

I just noticed that in testing, the name that's diplayed on my devices is not exactly the way I like it. I searched my project in Xcode and found two instances of this name; 1) in the BT_Config.txt file under "name":badname and 2) in the BT_info.plist in the entry CFBundleDisplayName. So is all I have to do change these two entries? Or is there something else that needs to be done. Also, in the future if I make any changes to the app and recompile, does just then changing the name in the core properties section of BT take care of this problem? Thanks. Steve

To make the display name change under the icon you need to change the CFBundleDisplayName in the BT_info.plist file. In future if you make change in your control panel regarding the project name and then again download and recompile your app in xcode, the name of the app too will change since bt core will automatically change the CFBundleDisplayName in your project to your projects name.

Yup what Sandeep said, be sure to note that sometimes one different devices you have more or less characters until it starts cutting off. For example, on the iPad the name "HelloWorld" may show up in full perfectly, but on the iPhone it would cut off like "HelloWo...". I think this also the case for iOS6 vs iOS7. The length of your apps name is very important. If your apps name is very lengthy then it will cut off like xyzzzzzzz into xyzz...z. Mostly 12 letters will show properly but it depends on the width of each individual letter as well. like w takes more room than i. To sort out this problem, i name my project using an app named AppNamer which is available on mac appstore for free. Check it out, its quite handy... shows apps name for iphone and ipad and also for ios6 and ios7.

Thanks, but what about the old name appearing in BT_Config.txt file under the entry "name":badname Do I also have to change badname to goodname?

No need to change that. You can safely ignore it. Or you can change it in your control panel if you want to.

Never even heard of that one, but if you change it from the control panel the next time you update your config (manually or by refreshing) it should be gone if you have OCD like me and need to see it updated :-) David https://buzztouchmods.com/market

Hey Steve, you might also benefit from BTU, have you checked that out yet? https://www.buzztouch.com/account/btu.php Super cool, just find an hour or so of time in the next week for it, I learned a ton of great things from it. David https://buzztouchmods.com/market
