Creating a new user type and removing menu items from the control panel

Hey all, Question: Is there a way that someone has achieved basically like wordpress has for it's user type, Admin, Editor, Subscriber? I know currently there is normal and admin, in general they list items with regards to the application. What I am seeking, is there a way to create a new user for the application say "client" that only has access to the add users, usage map and push notifications? Basically deleting the links in both the horizontal and left menu items? I'd rather not tinker with the php file for the control panel if this question has been asked before. So if anyone would be so kind in offering some suggestions. I'd rather train my client on how to login and send push notifications at their convenience. Thanks Ed

If you're talking about self hosted, you'll find most of your modifications over at Mr. David's House; http://www.buzztouchmods.com I don't think a specific mod has been made 'for that', but if you take a look at how a few of them are done, you might be able to connect the dots from there. It will require a bit of massage to your php files. And you'll want to document and keep notes about what you're changing in what file, because the 'next' time the self hosted server gets an update, those files will most likely be overwritten. Keeping notes will allow you to quickly restore the same functionality when the inevitable update comes around again (like in the next few weeks, for iOS7/Xcode5). Cheers! -- Smug
