help with updates to itunes

can someone please advise me on the process in the stores and what happens,i have 4 apps in itunes, and i was under the impression that once its in the store, the only updates you can have on the phones that download from the store, have to be resubmitted to itunes before they show, but someone told me that as long as you don't add any new plugins or features, that updates to pages and layout and stuff can be updated without resubmitting new binary, as with android, im presuming updates just go to the phones, cheers guys

It depends whether you are updating your app's content, or updating your app's coding. If you are just updating some basic content changes on the control panel, it will probably be ok to just not do anything, as the JSON will update itself on the device. If you have fiddled around its code, or bought new plugins you want to use, or even make your images local, you will need to submit a new version of your app to the App Store. This will have to go through the same authorisation process that your apps usually go through. However, the updates are always less time to review, as there is likely to be few changes, and they've already accepted the app in the first place. 98% of app updates are accepted.

If the changes you make are solely within the BT Control Panel, and no additional plugins are needed to make the change, and no additional 'internal' files are needed, then you shouldn't need to resubmit a binary. Provided your app is in 'Live' mode, you make your changes, and 'publish' them. The user will see the 'app configuration has changed, do you want to reload?' alert and can then implement your changes. However if you need to add a plugin, change some code, add a new document, then you will need to compile a new binary with your changes and resubmit. But as long as your changes are within the BT Control panel, you're good. Cheers! -- Smug Edit: Faster typist than I am, Thomas. Lol! :)

@Smug... It's funny how we both wrote the same thing, but only three minutes apart! It's happened to me a few times.
