app to fax option

hi, not sure I'm posting this in the correct place, so apologies if not. I need to create an iPad app that will allow users to fill in a form and then fax it to one of several numbers. I know there are email to fax services 'out there' and I think that would be the best solution, but I'm wondering if anyone has a better idea or a better way to get this done? I could do it through a php form script I'm pretty sure, but would prefer for all the code to be within the app, rather than just a remotely hosted option. thanks!

Just remember that when you email from the device, the user will still see the email sheet before it goes out, and have to press the 'send' button for confirmation. Apple won't let you 'sneak' anything via email without the users knowledge. If stealth is a requirement, you may want to revisit the php network option... Just fyi... Cheers! -- Smug

thanks, no it's not a stealth thing. They'll be filling in an info sheet that they know needs to be faxed to a certain number.

You would have to investigate if an eFax service has an API that allows a registered developer communicate with it. Then hopefully they have an SDK for iOS or Android and code examples. Then you will have to get a plugin developed that presents a form and invokes the SDK to send out the fax and informs the User "it was sent". All of a sudden, the Email-to-FAX option seems attractive! :-) -- Niraj

;-) yeah! sounds good. Would need an eFax service in Canada to do it I guess, as that's where my client and I are located. I'll go check out a few options. Then see if I can find someone who could develop the plugin...
