Android 2.2+ Beta testers requested...

The app is finished; I'm ready to submit. This is your chance to tear it apart. As well, listen to some great programming from one of my favorite beneficiaries, Public Radio for Guam. A few features I would specifically like to hear about is 1) There should be 'welcome' audio in the about page. 2) How is the streaming? I think Cookup did a great job, but I've made some modifications. 3) Overall look/feel... what do you think? 4) Any really bad problems I haven't detected? I compiled it using 'old' buzztouch, so it's compatible with Android v2.2 and up. At least, it should be. http://apps.marianasgps.com/download/?id=EAB1BDF5D00669D99B287E169&platform=android Thanks for the help! Cheers! -- Smug

Nice app, works well on my Galaxy Tab2 with 4.2 android. I liked the way you have worked on the background audio in the About KPRG section. However, i did not like the looks of the App rater screen... You can make improvements in this by changing the color of the title and intro text to some dark color like black. Also you can make changes to the color of the buttons and / or the text on buttons. You can do these changes in the class file. The streaming screen works really nice. I think this plugin is really awesome but there is room for making some improvements to this plugin. Hope cookup is working on the new version.

Hello Smug, Tested your app on LG (LS670) phone running 2.3.3 on the Ting Network and a Galaxy Tab3 running 4.1.2 using Verizon 4G Jetpack. 1) There should be 'welcome' audio in the about page. YES on both devices 2) How is the streaming? I think Cookup did a great job, but I've made some modifications. Did not work on phone. Worked fair on Tab. (Buffering was an issue). The better the internet connection the better the experience. 3) Overall look/feel... what do you think? PHONE Large logo on the home screen somewhat distorted and only left 1.5 rows of menu available. If I was not careful I would touch the logo and go to another screen. Maybe if the image scrolled as well it would be easier for users to navigate. TAB3 OK 4) Any really bad problems I haven't detected? No serious bugs detected. Hope this helps. Thanks for sharing, Mike

It seems like an issue with the rooted device. If eclipse won't recognize the new OS, I'm not sure what to do to rectify that; I've never gone down that road before. Since there are no new plugins specifically for the new Android core yet, have you tried making an old Buzztouch Android project using Google v2.2? Cheers! -- Smug

The plugin files (and all other 'source code' files) lie underneath the 'src' folder directory structure. Your 'layout' files (for screen design) are in the res/layout directory. layout files in v2.2 can be a little tricky at times... if your project starts to 'bleed red' undo whatever you've done, clean the project, and try again. Android layouts is a weak point for me (among other things). Each plugin (and in Android they're all in the src directory) 'should' have an accompanying "xml" file, or layout file, that is located in the res/layout directory. "Usually" they are named the same as the plugin. That is where you would edit the appearance. But changing values and such are all going to be slightly different depending on the object. Your best bet would be to figure out 'what' you wanted to move, and google the possible options on how to do it. It's not perfect, but it's worked for me up to now, lol! Remember the Android golden rule: 1) Get it to work 2) Make it pretty AFTER you get it to work Cheers! -- Smug

I was provided the stream URL from the client; they're paying another provider to stream the signal. I was brought on board to provide the app(s). Cheers! -- Smug

You'd have to ask CookUp. I think it does for audio 'files', but as of yet, I don't think streams are supported... or maybe my stream doesn't have all the needed metadata... Cheers! -- Smug
