I use Network Solutions. Except for an idiot attack a few months back, I am happy with the service. A lot of BT'ers use 'Hostgator' for their host, and seem to be satisfied with it. Cheers! -- Smug

I used to use GoDaddy, and switched to HostGator. (This is for my personal hosting, not Buzztouch.) I LOVE HostGator. I love the file manager, CPanel, and especially phpMyAdmin for browsing what is in my databases. And a single sign on too. GoDaddy is terribly confusing to use. So I would find a host with CPanel and phpMyAdmin.

+1 for Susan ... I'm with hostgator and I'm are very happy at this stage - been with them for well over a year. Their support is usually very good (far better than others I have been with!) They recently added 'code cloud' for automatic backups of databases and website files ... the best $20-$50 I've spent all year :) No more 'manual' or supersized zipped backups! All backups automatically done for you. Cheers Darrel

Thanks for the suggestions guys - HostGator seems really user-friendly and has everything I'd need - at least for now!

Liquid Web has been the best I have had so far for generic cpanel hosting. If you start to outgrow that I would recommend a managed vps with either: ServInt Hivelocity hosting Future Hosting (my current host)

@nadthevlad, What is the thresh hold that you would consider one would need VPS? x number of low traffic apps on self hosted plus x number of websites and blogs? Just interested :)

I might be a little late to the conversation, but I use a local host that my cousin manages. I saw his room full of servers once and I was amazed! It's called UKServers and their address is www.virtualnames.co.uk But at the end of the day, a server is a server is a server. Only speed and price are the dependent factors. Their website doesn't look terribly appealing, but it's my reliable website host. I'm also looking into hosting my websites on my Time Capsule. Since, I've downloaded OS X Server, I've been having great fun with it. I've managed to host my website to other computers outside of my IP address, however it still wants a password. I'll see where I get to with this.
