Non multiple choice quiz

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has built a quiz app that isn't multiple choice? Basically I have a question but I want them to enter the answer (text). If you know how or even a tutorial would appreciate you pointing me in the right direction. Thank you!

I'm not sure if you're going to be able to find something like that for mobile; perhaps for the desktop. Mulitple choice logic is pretty easy; the answer pool is predetermined, and the user merely selects one of the possible answers. With a 'fill in the blank' your scoring logic will be the same, but your 'correct answer criteria' is going to take some thought; is it a straight correct/incorrect result, or is there grading 'weight' for an answer that is 'close' or perhaps misspelled. If your criteria is 'too' strict users will get annoyed and quit using the app. And then there is a dinky keyboard. It's relatively easy to use your finger or thumb to make selections, but typing a sentence or two each question might get tedious for some. Even using a tablet. So, ensure that this is the best solution for your problem, and then start looking into pattern matching and regular expressions. You'll need to know this technology in order to make decent answer matching logic. Cheers! -- Smug

Thank you for your response. Yes, I have thought all that out. I'm a seasoned PHP developer. This sort of stuff I can do online without a problem. I could simply display the online game inside an app but would rather not. The text input is not a lot. We're not talking about full long sentences or paragraphs. They are more like short phrases. "Let us play ball" Looking around it is rather close to this example http://www.raywenderlich.com/33804/ I'll probably try to adapt this and use word tiles for input to eliminate the need to type. Was just hoping I didn't have to get dirty with Objective-C. Thanks again, appreciate your input.

That's a cool project link, thanks! :) Well, if you're doing something like 'quotes' and not a subjective answer type question, maybe it won't be too bad. Don't know 'what', but if there's anything I can do, let me know :) Cheers! -- Smug
