Splash Screen Issue & tabbed menu

I'm a complete novice and just when I thought I was getting somewhere I seem to have hit a brick wall. Firstly when I add a splash screen it just locks my app up Secondly I cant work out how to set the home page when using a tabbed menu I have main menu when I use non-tabbed, when I switch to tabbed I have a blank page

Don't worry about it; it'll make sense before long. 1) Splash screens are created on the 'screens' page (like all other screens), but you have to assign them in your 'theme' properties. 2) If you are not using tabs, your 'home screen' will be assigned under 'layout' and 'non-tabbed' screen properties. If you 'are' using tabs, your home screen will be the first tab listed under 'tabbed layout'. Refresh/publish your config file to view changes. Stop back if it isn't working for you, or if you have any questions! The forum is chock full of folks who are learning, and don't mind sharing our knowledge. Cheers! -- Smug

Thanks for the info I have I think got my head around the tabbed layout and it does seem to be doing what I want it to now. The Splash screen I have followed the steps and assigned the screen in theme properties but the app preview just locks up and no splash screen shows. It's probably something very simple I'm missing but I can't fathom it yet, so any help/tips would be welcomed

Other than 'dont use a gif file' you should be ok. I don't use splash screens much anymore, opting to customize my 'load' screen instead. But the app I do have it on works fine... So I know it's good. Is it the generic 'splash' screen, or is it a 3rd party splash? I use the generic splash, and most of the plugin authors monitor the forums, so if it's one of those, help isn't too far away. Have you tried different images? How large (kb) is the image? Maybe it's too big...? Cheers! -- Smug

Perhaps customising the load screen is what I should do I maybe getting confused between load screens and splash screens Can I customise the load screen in Buzztouch? I can't seem to find that option Is there an optimum image size for a splash screen that suits both ipad & iphone?

Oh, there's no option, and it's for xcode; I'm not sure where to go for Android. But close xcode, navigate to your BT Project directory, and look in the 'BT_Art' subdirectory. That holds all of the different load screens for each kind of iDevice, as well as different resolution icons (you'll want to change those to something better quality anyway). Just use your favorite image editor and go to town, remembering to save them as the same filenames (I usually overwrite). You can save them as different names, but you'll have to edit your plist if you do. I use two different images for iPhone/iPad Splash Screens, there are usually provisions for that in your control panel. Here's some useful info: https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/documentation/userexperience/conceptual/mobilehig/LaunchImages.html Cheers! -- Smug
