App Marketing Strategies

Simply put, how do you go about marketing your app and drive sales & revenue! Just curious to see what other people are trying at the moment and hope to maybe implement some of that in my marketing strategy. :) With a limited budget, I use a lot of social media, some app promotions, and simple but effective press releases to create links. Any other suggestions? :) Thanks for sharing! -Nicholas

I may be guilty on not doing all that I preach, but here are some of my thoughts on the matter. The article was originally written with another Buzztouch member in mind, but I hope it is still useful to you. http://duskosavic.com/blog/marketing/what-your-site-can-do-to-promote-your-apps-business/

The best way to drive more traffic to your app is to get some press coverage. I contacted the guys at AppAdvice to see whether they wanted to review my app. This was over a year ago. They decided to review my app and publish a review. I had a spike of downloads during that week, and no other time have I managed to get near the downloads I got in the one week when it got reviewed. http://appadvice.com/reviews

A lot depends on the kind of app. I've made some local apps so I contact local businesses with good facebook followings and cross-promote buy putting up splash screen ads and embedded links. With some momentum you can start charging for ad space on your app. I'm a big fan of direct promotion and/or sponsored local apps instead of third-party ad servers. Ryan
