Call Us and Send Email doesn't work....

Trying to learn this, and started with simple "Call Us" and "send Email" in Home Screen Menu.... when load in Eclipse, the emulator opens fine. But when I click on the "Call Us" line I get a window that pops up saying "Something's not right - No Native App Found".. Am I missing some plugin install? I downloaded the "adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-20130917.zip" and unstalled.. Thanks for your help!

Check the GoNorthWest Videos on installing Eclipse/ADT bundle with Windows, and that should straighten things up. http://www.youtube.com/gonorthwest The Call Us and Send Email screens work great. You just need to get your environment going. Cheers! -- Smug

Just deleted from my computer the original Eclipse/ADT bundle with Windows and Java downloads I did a couple days ago, and then reloaded all, following the video in YouTube.... Unfortunately, I am still getting the "something's not right - No Native App Found" error message when I click on my "Call Us" or the "Send Email" plugins... Other ideas?

Umm, wait a second. Emulator? The emulator won't make a call; it's not a phone, it's an emulator. The emulator won't send email 'unless' you configure an email client. That's what it's barking about when it says 'no native app found'. Sorry, It just hit me now, not earlier. I test things on my Android Tablet, but when I want to test 'call us' I have to steal my wife's phone. You can configure email for the emulator, but I don't know how permanent that is... As soon as you can, get a real device. Things go faster and smoother than with the emulator. Cheers! -- Smug

Never thought about that.. assumed the emulator would open up an "emulated" phone app or email app... I'll try it on my galaxy... Thanks..

One thing at a time, and before you know it, you're done. :) There are a couple of tutorials that have been done to help. GoNorthWest wrote the preeminent Google Map tutorials for BT v2 Chris1 wrote a rather nice writeup on BT v3 with Google API v2 If you want to try offline maps, I've done some work in that too. And a few more are in there as well... Naturally for the questions, hit up the forums. Cheers! -- Smug

Hate to bug you again, but have been working on getting maps to work... got the API key and was going to insert it in the AndroidManifest.xml, but I don't see the section noted in the tutorial (see below) ------------------------ and each Android project should have this line in the AndroidManifest.xml, around line 78 or so... <meta-data android:name="com.google.android.maps.v2.API_KEY" android:value="GOOGLE_MAPS_FOR_ANDROID_V2_API_KEY_GOES_HERE"/> Of course, you'll replace that GOOGLE_MAPS... part for your real v2 key. --------------------------- What do I need to do to get this in my AndroidManifest.xml?

If it's not already in there, I'd check to ensure you're running BT Android v3... BT Android v2 did not put the API Keys there... they were held in the 'strings.xml' file found in res/values If you're running v2, check out the tutorials GoNorthWest did... they cover the v2 intricacies... Cheers! -- Smug

Update... I created API Map key for my debug.keystore and put it into my app manifest.xml (<string name="googleMapsAPIKeyDebug">AIzaSyBMv018g_YYQRWo9ixLOgjE8ux42tSInuY</string>), per the video instructions. programming, but now I get the following in the log: "couldn't get connection factory client mapactivity android" In doing some reading on the web, it infers this is a V1 vs. V2 API issue? I couldn't get an API V1 key, so I got a V2 key.. do I need to change anything in my script for that? Or is there something else I need to be doing?
