Thanks BuzzTouch

Just a quick share for all those who are just starting out on BuzzTouch. January 2012 I decided I wanted to be an app developer with a little knowledge in xcode I was following tutorials and had little success trying to get decent quality apps on the market. I signed up to BuzzTouch in May 2012, I was amazed I could finally pump out a decent app with a back end and the ability to change content on the fly. I had a string of apps come out (of varying quality) but all saw some success. The most successful had 2 million downloads in 12 months. I found some work creating App manuals for companies with services engineers which BuzzTouch lended itself to perfectly uploading PDF's was a day in day out job for a while. I think I still have one of the biggest apps buzztouch has on it's servers with a little over 400 PDFs (most of which borders the upload data limit). Now 12 months later I have a great team, producing some quality Apps under various developer accounts. Although I don't use BuzzTouch much anymore, it allowed me to learn objective C (still learning everyday), while making a living creating mobile business solutions. Thanks BuzzTouch. Anyone can do it.

That really is fantastic news and an inspiration to the rest of us. I thought that I was the only member for Birmingham. Great to see that someone so local to me is enjoying such success. Keep it up.

Hi Nick, I know you've said that you're moving away from Buzztouch, but are you still interested in Buzzday? David Book and Susan Metoxen are flying from America and also people flying from Milan and Lisbon. We've got coding legend Andy Kitts coming here from Liverpool. Although you may be splitting from Buzztouch, it still might be really nice to catch up with the good old mob! It's the biggest event outside the USA. 14 people are coming. If I haven't convinced you, then I wish you good luck in where you plan to go in the future.

Hi guys, Yep I plan to stay a member for the long run, I like to check out all the cool new content David and the team are posting up. It's really progressed in the last year or so. I've stuck to the iOS route so here's how I did it. I really can't stress enough to people how important it is to give obj-C a go. If you can start to understand the basic principles, you can manipulate BuzzTouch compiled code and customize your apps further. Disclaimer: I AM NO BUSINESS GURU, this is how i've done it up until now. It may or may not work for you. Learning Resources. http://www.lynda.com/Mobile-training-tutorials/55-0.html?previousCategory=50&category=ios_413 Learn Adobe illustrator. http://stackoverflow.com I'm on this site daily! There is a fantastic community. www.raywenderlich.com Some great tutorials for starters and intermediates alike. www.placeit.net For impressing clients with sketch ups. www.designshock.com There is a lot of free artwork downloads on here and some great ideas. www.colorschemedesigner.com use the designer to create perfect matching colours. When you start to get more comfortable with iOS, once you start to create a few apps utilising basic features. www.Parse.com <----Most valuable website. Handles back end stuff, really easy framework to integrate. Creating users, IAPs, on the fly stats, host objects/classes. I tried not to waste too much time with Twitter, Facebook etc. I believe this is valuable when you are trying to sustain an image, for now you need to build that image. Referrals - Work on referrals. Create great work and your clients will be more than happy to refer you. I chose to stay with my home office this week. I looked into renting a near by office, i was quoted £1,000/month for a 4 man room. I'd rather buy a new apple machine each month. If you have a home office and want faster internet but you are in the countryside like I am, look into www.satelliteinternet.co.uk. Don't try and be a jack of all trades, look at local universities/colleges. There is a huge talent pool there. Getting the right person to do your artwork is sometimes necessary it can be the difference between your app hitting the front page of the app store and it not. Look into different methods of employment. Remember you don't have to set up as a business and pay PAYE to employ somebody, find people who are self employed pay them on a project basis, offer a percentage. Collaboration, work together. BuzzTouch is the perfect place to meet people with similar interests and goals. Network, get out and about. Yesterday I took the morning off work to go to a seminar, I'm now knocking up quotes on apps for two people I met there. Keep examples of your work to hand. Never underpay yourself. Your a developer. If someone wants your work they will pay for it, they are investing in you! -Nick
