Errors when using apostrophe

I've searched for answers to this problem, but could not find one that solved it...so any help would be most welcomed! I have to use an apostrophe in a Top Navigation Bar title...but can't figure a way to do it. Every time I go to save, I get the following error: "An error ocurred in running the fnExecuteNonQuery() method in utilityFunctions.php (6)" Is there ANY way to include apostrophe's and quotation marks? Thanks very much! -Manny

I'm guessing it causes a problem to the json? Try this http://stackoverflow.com/questions/12148468/json-value-with-apostrophe or maybe http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2275359/jquery-single-quote-in-json-response - there might be some nuggets of information in there.

It's a JSON thing, still looking for ways around it myself! David https://buzztouchmods.com/market

Thanks, AlanMac & MrDavid! I tried digging through the links that you suggested, but couldn't find anything that works...sadly. If either of you can find a workable solution, I'd be most grateful. Best regards from E. T. Simantiras Design, -Manny

Did you try a backslash before the apostrophe? Just asking, I don't know if that will work. -- Niraj

Yep, Niraj...I tried the backslash and it didn't work, either. Thanks for posting, though. I sure hope that *someone* can figure out a way to do this. It's terribly annoying and almost impossible to avoid. -Manny

One person on the Stack Overflow site suggested this: If you need a single quote inside of a string, since \' is undefined by the spec, use \u0027 see http://www.utf8-chartable.de/ for all of them So ... instead of the apostrophe or the single quote character, try to put \u0027 in it's place. -- Niraj

If it is not possible to overcome this maybe you can use an image instead? Easy to do if you want the same text/image to appear on all screens. Might be possible to do on a per-screen basis, lot of work ahead though. Farcat

Thank you, everyone, for your kind replies and suggestions for working through this "apostrophe" issue. After cleaning and rebuilding my Xcode material, I re-entered the text that requires apotrophes using \u0027 (for example, one of my text string's is "George Washington's Headquarters"...in the NAV BAR TITLE, I typed "George Washington\u0027 s Philadelphia Office" and, thus far, all is good). Now, don't get *too* excited...I did this before after reading Niraj's suggestion, and it didn't work...don't know why it works now! I'm hoping that a clean/rebuild made the difference. Will keep you all apprised. Thanks again, everyone. This kind of help from the forum is what makes Buzztouch such a great environment! -Manny
