Home Screen Issues when changing to a button menu

Hi, I am having issues with changing the home screen menu to a button menu. I originally deleted the existing home menu and try adding a new button home screen in layouts. It saved in buzztouch however would not appear in the simulator. I tried to return the home screen to simple menu again and it too would not load into the simulator. The only way I could find to fix it was to delete the project in Xcode and start again. Luckily had only just started on the project. Is there another way to change the home menu to a button menu.

Hi there lady_di! Thought you were up in heaven now? Good to see you making apps, drop in a wee Avatar as well! Did you do a clean and build prior to running? Hate to ask. What version of stuff are you running? Did you update your config file? Again, good to see you posting, throw a picture up, go on! It can be anything. The shadow looks like, well, a shadow! Good to meet you. MacApple

You might also want to check your 'layout' configuration (in the BT control panel) and see if the home screen you want is the home screen listed. Like MacApple, I'd check the config file to see if it's current. One of the things you'll learn when you watch the Buzztouch University videos is, when you download the project, the configuration file included matches the project 'when it was downloaded'. Any changes *after* you've downloaded the file won't 'catch up' with the app *until* you refresh the app, which refreshes the configuration. Or replace the downloaded config file with a fresh copy from the control panel. So, if you changed from list menu to button menu 'after' you've downloaded the project, the app will need a fresh configuration file to know this. Plus, like MacApple says, you'll also want to clean your project as well. With respect to the Avatar, I think the shadow looks like a confidential informant on a TV Expose show ;) Cheers! -- Smug

Thank you for your help. I am very new to this and haven't downloaded a fresh configuration file before. Do I simply download the IOS project again and extract the BT configuration file and add it to Xcode? or is there a easier/different way? haha sorry I will get a photo up shortly. Cheers

The 'easy' way for me is, in my BT Control Panel, select the (it's labeled differently in self hosting) either 'configuration data' or 'json data'. It will display the current configuration; copy it all, and paste it over the content in your project BT_config.txt file. You'll want to do at least once right before you release it to the markets, to ensure you have the latest config bundled with the project. Also change from 'Design' mode to 'Live' mode (by editing the config.txt file) before submission. Cheers! -- Smug

Thank you, Ok I have downloaded a fresh BT_config.txt file run a clean and build and still no home button screen is appearing in the simulator, blank home screen. When I change it back to the original simple list home screen through layouts and clean and rebuild it displays the original simple menu home screen again. I am a little stumped. I am running version 1.0

Did you delete the app from the simulator as well? The simulator keeps a cache of the apps; I usually have to 'delete' them before running my app again to be able to accurately reflect my changes. Cheers! -- Smug

Check your config.txt file; use Jsonlint to make it pretty. The very first screen that is listed under [BT_screens] is your home screen. Is it the one you were expecting? Also, the home screen must be a screen, not an action or status. So, 'device info' cannot be a home screen, etcetera... Cheers! -- Smug
