Smug's Google API Maps guide (help)

Hi guys, Followed this guide: https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/googleapiv2.pdf Up to "Pasting your API key into the project AndroidManifest.xml file within Eclipse". Noticed I did not have that line there to edit, and then noticed this was for the new android. The problem: I have little time to update my self hosted to 2.1.9 to get the new android or recompile the app and do everything I did to my project again, and need to get this project done ASAP. Is there any way for me to use this tutorial and fix my maps without updating to the newest android? Thanks all! David https://buzztouchmods.com/market/

I'm afraid not - This is one of the ways Google is trying to push the way forward. Maps are fragment-based now, which means 3.0+, which means BT 2.1.9

AHHH LAME! Guess I will need to bite the bullet and update my server. I have so many damn modifications, it's a good thing I documented all of my changes when I had to redo them for 2.1.8. Thanks, Chris. David https://buzztouchmods.com/market/

Wouldn't the 'old' android code use the new API key? If so, grab an API key as per tutorial, but install it the old android way, in the strings.xml file, etcetera (according to GNW's v1 tutorial) ? Just wondering; haven't tried it. Cheers! -- Smug
