Non-districtive menu row redirect to different screen

So. This has bothered me for a while and I was wondering if it must be this way. When I build a menu with a list of items, have configured the icon, description text and everything...but then decide that I want to point that row to a new screen ( eg from a custom URL for YouTube ...to using the YouTube playlist plugin instead). I am not aware of a way to change what screen the menu row will open. In fact I end up making a new row with all the same info except for the target screen, then deleting the old menu row, and adjusting the row number of the new replacement row to take the place of the old one. Now that's just crummy user experience. Is there a way to be able to change what screen the menu item will point to? If not, is that something that could be added to the popover screen where icon details, disclosure indicator, and row title is set? Would make quick menu adjustments sooooo much easier by not having to rebuild and replace row item for every change. Pretty please??? €

I would like that too, one interface for standard menus, not three. We might call it Super Menu plugin or Enhanced Menu plugin or whatever. Or a utility to generate the other two types of menus from one existing menu. For example, when I create a Menu with Image plugin which has text and and image, why couldn't I use that data that I have already entered into the control panel to generate a menu with buttons, which will also have an image and (perhaps less) text.

It sounds like you want a 'dynamic' menu to be used, which is perfectly doable. But it will require a little playing with on your part. What you want is to dynamically populate your menu using the same 'basic' format, but substitute the data particulars with the actual target. You'll do this by including a menu screen in your app, but do not populate it with the control panel. Instead, in the menu control panel 'dataURL' field you'll have it direct to a separate 'childItems' file that you can either have lying around in dropbox, or you can have a custom PHP file build you a JSON childItem file on the fly. Although it's not directly related to what you're doing, I hodge-podged a dynamic menu script for locations. You're welcome to play with it and see if you can alter it for your needs. If not, give me a yell and I can answer basic questions on how to customize it for your needs. I keep it here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/115208762/loadScreenObject.zip Hope this helps! @Smug, I think he's just talking about the control panel. Being able to tell the childItem which screen to load after its already been created. Yes, this has caught me a few times, and I wished for the same thing. I'll see if I can get it on the to-do list. -Chris
