Multiple errors when running downloaded package in Xcode! Need help

Hi All, I have created an app, just one screen with an image, downloaded the package and opened it in Xcode 4.5.2. The app does not run (it opens in a blank screen on the simulator) and shows an error "Thread 1: Signal SIGABRT". Have looked at it in the forum and tried fixes posted by various members to now avail. Need urgent help please!!! Thanks, Shalabh

If your app was live and had users down, it might be urgent. If your servers died and thousands of people were affected, it might be urgent. Because your test app isn't working, is NOT urgent. Just ask for help without the drama; people will still respond about the same speed, and no faster. :) That said, if you need assistance, we need to know a bit more before we can pinpoint a possible reason. Take a break, and read through these documents: https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/Problem_Reporting_and_Basic_Debug_v1.0.pdf https://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/exception%20debugging%20how-to.pdf The first is a general 'how to' for using logs and finding errors that way. The second is a nice writeup by Chris1 on how to use debugging in Xcode. Both are talents you're going to need in the future anyway, so you may as well read them now. After that, go back and take a look at the 'instructions.pdf' that came with your zipped package. Ensure you've completed all of those steps. It's important. And if you're still having issues, make sure you have specific errors, log entries, and other resources so together we can successfully get you going again. No problem asking as many questions as you need to understand this stuff; it's not always easy. But it's rarely 'Urgent'. :) Cheers! -- Smug

It's good to get excited about making your first app. I remember letting out a whoopee! Stick with it, don't lose hope. After following the Instructions.pdf and the othet two documents referenced by Smug, let us know how you get along. :-) -- Niraj

Hi, Thanks for the suggestions. I have gone through the resources. What I additionally tried is to create a new app with following specs: 1. Created a Splash page. 2. Chosen Non-tabbed layout and used one menu button. 3. Included a pdf doc to be accessed through the menu button. My environment: Self hosted Buzztouch (upgraded yesterday to 2.1.9). Xcode 4.6.3 iOS SDK 6.1 For iOS. As soon as I run the downloaded package in Xcode, I get multiple warnings and errors. Request your help in resolving this. A screenshot of the errors (Xcode) is also available at: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xwzbitgsl67lvfx/Screen%20Shot%202013-09-25%20at%2012.47.07%20PM.png Thanks...

How long ago did you download your project? It looks like an iOS5 project opened in iOS 6. Does your self hosted have an API key? you probably need a newer version of your project. Cheers! -- Smug

Well, it's old code. Stuff that worked great in iOS 5, but doesn't work in iOS6. It's possible that you need to refresh and update your plugins in your control panel. If all your plugins haven't been updated since the new release, they'll need the update. If that doesn't work, send a message to PSMDanny (https://www.buzztouch.com/PSMDanny) and see what he says. He's a master at self hosting, and could probably figure out why your code is stale. Cheers! -- Smug
