Creating Android App APK File for RELEASE

Hey Guys, Right now, I am so confused about getting my App APK File. I have gone through the pdf tutorial by GoNorthWest at.... <a href="http://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/Signing_Android_Apps_v1.0.pdf" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/Signing_Android_Apps_v1.0.pdf</a> I don't really understand what it means by ". Debug apps are not allowed in stores if debuggable=”true” is set, it won’t get accepted. And also I have no idea where to find the "android:debuggable="false". This file is said to be located in the root of AndroidManifest.xml file. But I really cannot find it. How am I going to set my AndroidManifest.xml where android:debuggable="true" is to be set to "false" file? Can anyone advice me on this? I have trying to search for answers all day long.

Around line 58 or so of my 'AndroidManifest.xml' you should have this: <!-- application --> <application android:name="ohg_appDelegate" android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name" android:theme="@style/hostThemeWithTitle" android:hardwareAccelerated="false" android:debuggable="true"> Note the last line. That's what you'll need to set to 'false' before release. As well, you have two options to 'sign' an app... with your 'debug.key' and your 'release.key'. Your app will need to be signed with your 'release.key' before it will be accepted. Hope this helps, but always ask for confirmation if need be. Cheers! -- Smug

Hi Smug, May I know what is the difference between a "Debug Key" and "Release Key"? How do I create a Release Key?

If you haven't created a release key, you'll need to create two items: 1) A release 'keystore', which is basically a file that holds your release keys... 2) the Release key for 'that particular app' that gets held in your release store. Mark (GoNorthWest) created a tutorial on it; check it out first to see if it answers your questions... http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=84308A45D0AECFC6F296DDA Cheers! -- Smug
