Screensaver using splash plugin?

Hi guys, I'm creating an app for a retail environment and essentially want an attendant to be able to tap a button, and for a simple slideshow of promo images to begin. Then, when the device is tapped, the slideshow would exit and return to the menu of the app. I was thinking of using the random splash plugin, but have a few questions. Firstly, is it possible to use a splash screen plugin outside of the usual environment? eg, can it be set to start from a menu item and then return back to the home screen? I tested this with David's plugin and it would return to a blank screen with only the background after the splash was tapped out of. If anyone can suggest any solutions, I'd appreciate it. Cheers guys!

You could make an 'Animated Splash Screen' where you can have the splash as tap to load, but if they don't tap within 10 seconds or something, the images start changing giving a 'screensaver'. I think this is what you are after. It wouldn't be tricky, but just a lot of movie frames to place into your app. You would basically need to have lots of frames of the same image, and then after 10 seconds (or so) the frames would start changing into other images. You could also have fade transitons or anything. The 'random splash' is random when you launch the app. Every time the app is launched, a different 'random order' image shows. This wouldn't work because the random splash only shows one image per launch.

Adding on to what Thomas correctly said. A "Splash Screen" is a different category of screen, and is treated a little differently. It has a category of "Splash" and there are little checks for that throughout the code so that a splash screen acts like a splash screen. If you *want* a particular splash screen as a screen, I'd create a new plugin, duplicate the splash screen, and change the type to a BT Screen. In your control panel, set the 'next screen' as the menu screen. Make sure you also add it as a menu choice, so when the salesperson is finished, they can 'tap' it back on. It's a task, but it shouldn't take that long. Just remember not to duplicate any files or class names. Cheers! -- Smug

Thanks for your help guys. I figured out a way to place a slideshow on a blank screen, thanks to some other posts in these forums. Not perfect, but it is working! Thanks again.
