Unable to refresh app in Eclipse

Thoroughly fed up with Android development! It's always been so janky compared to iOS, but I hold my nose and do it. Well, something has changed recently, because downloading a new package from Buzztouch.com doesn't seem to work in the emulator or on my device. I did publish an Android app several months ago with no problems, but this time, it totally sucks! The problem is my device and emulator will not update or refresh. When you click or tap the "Menu" button, the only option is "No Options - OK to close". It simply will not update no matter what. I'm forced to delete the app and then copy the config info from buzztouch.com to get any kind of changes at all. If anyone has help, I would surely be thankful. Regards, Andy

Hi @andydahl, Sorry about your frustration but don't give up on Eclipse! You can do it! Did you try deleting this emulator and trying a different one? Your device should be updating/refreshing. Not sure if this matters, but I believe Android new core here @buzztouch uses the minimal 3 now instead of 2.2. LA

Hi Andy, When you hit the menu button to try and update, are you doing that from the home screen? Not all screens will provide you with the update option. Some have no options associated with them, as you've noticed! Mark

Thank you both for your help. I was trying on the home screen, but it didn't work at all. What is working (at least for now) is Android Studio after upgrading my Self-Hosted to 2.1.9 (although the "powered by" still says 2.1.8). The only thing I've noticed is some plugins won't update and others (like Button Menu) after manually upgrading are left out of the download for Android. But I did get it to work as it should. I just wanted to update you because I know this community takes these 'pleas for help' seriously. Thanks again! Andy

Hi Andy, I am a total newbie in app development. I don't know code or programming but I am passionate to learn from scratch. I am still experiencing the same kind of problem as you. What I did is to... 1) Uninstall the application in the emulator 2) And then delete my project in eclipse 3) RE-Download the Android Source File form Buzztouch.com Control Panel 4) Compile the downloaded source code in eclipse 5) Ensure that the Bt_Config file in the project is the same as in the buzztouch control panel. (Sometimes I still manually copy from buzztouch control panel and paste it into my project file in eclipse) 6) Do a project clean 7) Finally run the project. This is how I have solved my problems with eclipse. By the way, there are times where I have to run the project from 3 to 7 times in order for the emulator to work. I used to think that I wanted to give up on buzztouch. But because of the strong and caring community in the forum that have kept me motivated and energetic to go on with my first app development. All thanks to the people whom have helped me along the way... David, LA, GoNorthWest, Sandeep, Dusko, Chris1, SmugWimp and many others. Without this community, I will not be able to create my app. So, I would like to encourage you not give up on eclipse. Good luck in your development Andy! Talk soon. Tommy

Hi Andy, Glad you got it working! With regards to the plugins being left out of the download, are they plugins that are included in your project via the control panel? Because by default, all plugins that are configured in the control panel for that app should automatically be included for download. Then you can add or subtract from that list manually. @Tommy - Eclipse is a super pain in the behind! If at all possible, get a device to do your testing on. The issues generally aren't with Buzztouch itself, per se, but rather with Android in general, and the Emulator in particular. Hang in there, and soon you'll be an Android master! Mark
