How do you manage contents & data associated with buzz touch Apps

I am wondering what tools everyone uses to manage contents (HTML etc.) for a buzztouch apps. Public tools? In-house development etc.? My goal is to allow the 3rd party through some tools to updatemanipulatechangeupload contents for a buzz touch app without involvement of app developer. Feng

The Buzztouch Self Hosted Server software installed on your hosting solution could work for both iOS and Android.

That's not what I am looking for. here is the situation I am thinking of: 1) we would develop apps for our customers; 2) Our customer would provide the contents/dbs/etc. for the app; 3)how do you work with the customer to change/update/add contents seamlessly ? I am thinking of an APP admin web site that would allow the customer to submit the changes\updates\additions. Every content then is linked to a certain screen. I guess i need somehow allow the customer manipulate the json data & the contents of the app through an APP admin web backend which needs to be designed & developed... any ideas? feng

Most of my apps are for churches, which are lucky to find someone to find time to log onto a website to update simple content - much less have a tech-savy person who can handle all sorts of options. So, I created my own control panel that is very simple to use. Screens are preconfigured and turned on or off by the client using a simple switch. Some screens (like forms) will ask for an email address to send the data to, but that's about as complicated as most of my screens get. Even at that, I find some of my clients take a really long time trying to get their app ready for me to publish, and once they do they have a hard time keeping it up to date. Sometimes, KISS really is the best model.

FYI, here is my how-to document for my clients. It should give you an idea of how I have my setup configured. http://www.churchphoneapps.com/howTo/ChurchPhoneApps-mainSetup.pdf

VERY impressive, Chris! Part of the reason I don't care to take on clients who 'do their own' is because I've never written something as elegant as that. Very nice indeed. Cheers! -- Smug

What you have is what I mean. I am dreaming of something more generic and it would be better coming from buzztouch server since the server has all the knowledge to build a content management portal... This should save a lot of engineering time. And it could be as simple as browsing web site and submit information. With this functionality, I guess buzztouch comes to a full circle... feng

" it would be better coming from buzztouch server since the server has all the knowledge to build a content management portal..." Not sure what you mean here. This type of approach is highly customized - would be challenging to roll something like this out to the masses. It's located on a completely different server than my self-hosted site. Essentially, I created my own version of the self-hosted software early on. Everything is generated using php. My database on that server simply holds content and the on/off switch settings for each user. (There is no bt_items table, etc).

I know the self hosted server holds only part of the data for the apps while the BT server, which generates the code, should have complete information and it, therefore, is capable of helping/creating/etc. an admin site for the contents and data for an app it generates. Feng

The Buzztouch server simply holds the "core files" for the app, which is the app project in XCode or Eclipse. Your self-hosted server contains all the configuration data set by the app owner. When you have a self-hosted setup, the Buzztouch.com server doesn't maintain any configuration data for your apps. So, if you wanted to use a different method of generating content for the app, it would have to be on your own server.

Yes, I see. But since buzztouch offers the self host control panel would it be nice to have a feature like this to simply contents management. Otherwise it would be a hassle to do so. On the other hand, with this feature, it would make buzztouch complete & much more powerful...
