Course of Action - Scope of Project: Setting up new BT Server for updating content app

Greetings BT Family: Happy Summer ~ As always, I turn to your collective conscious & outstanding insight. In moving forward with a new project, I wanted to determine the best route. Perhaps you could point me in the right direction. [1] I have not installed BT Server (yet). Along the process, I got freaked out by the chmod writable 7,7,7 code. I'm looking for an alternative server solution, which would work well w/BT (at a reasonable price). If possible, I would like to keep the cost down to $100/year. Any insight/recommendation would be great. [2] Once I have the BT Server up & running, this is what I'd like to happen: [3] Goal: Making an iOS app that has live, up-to-date,changing HTML content. Example: at a baseball-league competition outlining the following. A) Before the tournament begins, four screens are set up: Team Blue vs. Team Red. Team Yellow vs. Team Green. Team Purple vs. Team Orange Team Orange vs. Team Lavender B) During the tournament, Team Blue vs. Team Red updates are available, in the HTML Code. - 1st inning: Player A of Team Blue scores a run - 3rd inning: Player B of Team Blue scores a run - 5th inning: Player C of Team Red scores a run - etc - Team Blue wins (moving them forward in the tournament), to meet the winner of Team Yellow vs. Team Green. C) This would continue for all four sets. D) Two new pages, Team Blue vs. Team Green and Team Purple vs. Team Orange would be created. E) A tab button would allow the user to click it & get updates [4] I imagine I could enter all of this, attend the game, but it would be nifty if someone else could log-in and update as well. Especially since two games are going on simultaneously. I want to use BT Server, so that someone else could log-in and update this content. I believe that adding the 'no cache' code in the HTML screens would allow the content to always be fresh. Has anyone set up an app similar? With content that is updated? Is this the best course of action? How else would you approach this? Many thanks~

Turning off cache for the HTML docs isn't hard, though it requires an Internet connection at all times to use the app. If it were me, I'd skip the HTML and make a custom plugin. But that may be beyond your skill level and pocketbook it sounds like? In terms of self-hosting, the best cheap server out there that I've found is Hostgator. (About $4 or $5 a month). After domain name registration, you'll be right around $100/yr. Dont let the install process scare you. We can help you out each step you get stuck on. The chmod step is actually super easy. If you've ever used a FTP program to download a file, you can do it. And if not, you'll need to know how to enter a username and password, press a connect button, and right click on a file folder. (It's seriously that easy).

Thanks Susan! Yes, just a day after his exciting news we corresponded about the BT server set up. I know it will definitely happen in time. Chris - no, a plug-in isn't in the foreseeable future; however, I will checkout host gator. Thanks -

Just to clarify, you can either pay Danny to do it for you, or if you do it yourself and you have questions, he is there to answer them. The tutorials are quite helpful too.

Yup-Yup, no reason to clarify; I completely understand his role. (and love his work in the marketplace). Excellent addition to the BT team. would love any other comments that veer towards the execution of the project outline. thanks!
