Design Menu image sizes

Quite new to this and feel I've nearly got a working app, the navigation works anyway. However, I've created a series of images for the plugin Design Menu, all of which are showing but they are coming in about double the size they should be. I've created them in Photoshop to the exact sizes they should be :/ Any ideas??

https://www.dropbox.com/s/04k9kj7nvndy50f/grab.tiff Here is a screen grab. I have the sizes within BT to the sizes I created in Photoshop.

Did you select Full Screen when you told the Control Panel where the image was located? Mike

Thanks for the reply. It doesn't give that option with BTA Design Menu for either the header image or the button icons I have it all sitting in the correct position now, the images are still huge though :/

Are you using a 5.1 Simulator? I have had similar issues with a plugin when trying to test on a device running iOS 5.1.

You might need two versions of the images. One for retina displays ([email protected]) and one for non-retina displays (filename.png). Based upon your description (the dropbox link is dead), it's entirely possible that this is what is happening, if you don't have two sets of images. Regards, Andy

I'm running iOS 7 and Xcode 5. Here is another link Andy. The Simulator is a iPhone 5 though so the retina images I created should work. https://www.dropbox.com/s/04k9kj7nvndy50f/grab.tiff

Try this: 1) Copy your images to 50% size, using the non-retina naming convention 2) Rename your current (100% sized) images to @2x convention **You may have to delete the images from Xcode (move to trash) and then replace the images** 3) Stop the simulator run and then restart I think this will clear up your issue. Could you post the images by themselves? I'd like to examine them. Regards, Andy

OK. Just as I suspected, you've got the naming conventions wrong (opposite). You @2x images are 1/2 the size of the non-@2x. They should be reversed. home_image_01 is 640x286 (should be 320x143) home_image_01@2x is 320x143 (should be 640x286) This *should* fix your problem. Regards, Andy

Make sure you restart the simulator and it wouldn't hurt to do a Project-->Clean before restarting.

Just to say thanks again Andy. Got all the images in the right place now. I recreated them and have it sitting in the right position now. However, any ideas why a transparent png would have a white background?? Is this something that would have to be fixed in Xcode? https://www.dropbox.com/s/dtthnmpuvchzzhv/Grab3.tiff

My hunch is that you need to change the Designmenu List Layout, Color in the control panel. Here's an image of one of my apps: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sayvvzz8esm64wc/DesignMenuOptions-Row-Background-Colors.jpg I believe you can use clear as a color. Regards, Andy Dahl

I had tried that but still solid white. The png is definitely transparent as well. Thanks anyway Andy.

Are you using the same images you showed me yesterday? I ask because those are all jpgs. One other place to look in the control panel is Screen Background Color. Try changing all of these color boxes to black and see if there's any effects. I'm sure it's simply a matter of finding the right control. Don't give up! Please keep me informed of your progress, because I want you to beat this issue! :) Regards, Andy Dahl

Haha, I will do. I redid the images from yesterday to make them PNG files instead think that buttons could just sit on top of the background image. Might just go back to the jpegs. I almost had it at that so maybe it's a case of forgetting this path. I'll let you know :)

One other thought: Make sure you've restarted the simulator once you've added images to the project. Sometimes I've found it helpful to delete the app from the *simulator* (by holding the mouse cursor down on the app until they get all jiggly) and then running the project again. Sometimes this 'clears the cache' as it were. Good luck! Andy

Good news... Got all the images in and it's looking good minus the white space below my header image. Any tips for getting rid of that? I have tried everything in Buzztouch, thinking it might be a case of changing a bit of code in BTA_design_menu.m :/ https://www.dropbox.com/s/m40t9w6kkwi8ll0/photo.PNG
