Multiple apps in same workspace?

Hey, Just curious if its safe to have multiple app projects in the same workplace location. I've been working on one app in eclipse and want to work on another one, but hesitant about importing a new project in the same folder.. Thanks, Joe

Hi Joe, Yep, it's safe, and tons of us do it. Just make sure to rename the app in the workspace first, because they tend to import with the same project name. Right click on the project, select Rename, and then give it a meaningful name. Then you can import other apps into the same workspace. Mark

Mark, Thanks I'm going to keep messing with it. I'm having problems loading appery source code into eclipse like buzztouch, but I think I'm going to compare files and see what I can debug. Any advice about having an activity launch? Which is apparently what I'm missing when I try to run the appery app in eclipse. Thanks, Joe

Careful to not import too many projects. Each project in the workspace will have to be built every time you launch Eclipse. Try to keep it under 10 or it will feel like it is taking Eclipse forever to launch. You can export an Android Binary from Appery. The problem is that all the functionality of the Appery app is controlled and set-up in the Appery builder. So if you want your Appery app to do something like launch a pdf or make a phone call - you have to construct/build that in their UI and then export the ready to go Android project into Eclipse. Modding the Appery source code after you export the binary into Eclipse - that is going to be raw coding and def not a WYSIWYG/GUI way to build an app like using BT or the Appery UI. They really offer the source mostly for the ability to codesign and export the apk so you can upload to the market yourself if you want. Similar type of services - but BT is way more flexible and robust. It's properly designed to work with native source code editing. Jacksonville..... Gator Fan? ATRAIN53, Thanks for the advice about the number of projects in the workspace. I'm more familiar with it now. I'm developing multiple prototypes on both BT and Appery and am still learning both platforms. The reasons I like Appery include their drag drop interface with visuals, easy testing outside of Eclipse, and very quick feedback. It also seems more flexible for design than BT, because you can custom design every page without having to create a custom plugin. However I've heard Appery requires more knowledge of raw coding than BT, and I'm starting to understand why. I plan on updating the app constantly and providing a new event daily, so maintenance will be an issue. If you could clarify with examples the differences of such a situation with both BT and Appery, I would really appreciate it. And yes I'm a Gator fan! My parents are alumni, that's where they met! First date was a Tom Petty concert in Gainesville in 1979 I believe.. It's weird for me though because I go to JU and played baseball for a few seasons, and we play UF. We actually made it to the regionals three seasons ago at UF but got beat out by Miami! However during that same season we beat UF at their place! Good times! Thanks again, Joe

You can prevent Eclipse from building projects automatically when Eclipse launches : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2505229/disable-building-workspace-process-in-eclipse Mark
