My first App was approved by Apple today!!!

I am really excited that Apple approved my app on the first round. It is called "Miami for Cruisers" Thanks to everybody who answered my questions. Here is the app ( it is free, so any downloads and reviews on the App Store will be appreciated) https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/miami-for-cruisers/id673654482?ls=1&mt=8

@Jgomez. App looks great. Downloaded and rated. 2 questions: - where did you get all the info? Wikipedia? - same question as @SmugWimp...if it's in there...I didn't notice any "maps and voice navigation" Cheers

@Jgomez. Noticed a possible typo in one of your HTML Docs in the app, e.g. screen for Bayside Marketplace, the HTML reads: ----------------------------- <td style="text-align: center; "> <a 1-305="" href="tel:1-305- 577-3344"><img align="center" src="callicon.png" style="max-width: 72px; max-height:72px%" /></a></td> <td style="text-align: center; "> <a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?q=401+Biscayne+Boulevard+Miami,+FL+33132&amp;hl=en&amp;ll=25.776822,-80.184917&amp;spn=0.010647,0.01929&amp;sll=25.779431,-80.18539&amp;sspn=0.010646,0.01929&amp;gl=us&amp;hnear=401+Biscayne+Blvd,+Miami,+Florida+33132&amp;t=m&amp;z=16"><img src="map.png" style="max-width: 72px; max-height:72; align=center" /></a></td> <td style="text-align: center; "> <a href="http://www.baysidemarketplace.com"><img src="web.png" style="max-width: 72px; max-height:72px;" /></a></td> ----------------------------- The "<a 1-305=" I believe should be "<a href=" ?? Cheers Steve

Nice pictures with the BTA Design Menu plugin! That Steve buzzes down all errors! :-) The info screens for each child item has a button to Call, Map and Web Site. That's what he meant by "maps and voice navigation". He meant navigation as in menu buttons, not as in guidance to a destination. -- Niraj

Very nice! Excellent work! I bet a TON of people download it, given how many cruisers depart the area each year. Very nice way to address a niche audience! Mark

Thanks everybody! It feels good to learn something new and see the results. To answer those questions: I have lived in South Florida (including Miami) for many years, so I am very familiar with all the attractions, clubs, beaches, etc. I have also taken cruises departing from the Port of Miami. It was a matter of selecting the places I wanted to show on the App and gathering all the info. Regarding the maps and turn by turn navigation, I used custom HTML for those screen, plugged in the address in Google Maps and then copied and pasted the link back into the HTML screen. Interesting enough, when you activate the link on the iPhone, it open Google maps on the web, but then you have the choice of viewing the address in the Google Maps App, which provides turn by turn. It might not be the most elegant way to do it, but it does the trick. I did a little bit of research before doing the app. I visited a forum called Cruise Critic which has over 1 million members. I noticed that people kept asking the same questions about Miami over and over, so I created a list of the most common questions and then I basically developed the App based on the most FAQ (Example: How do I get to the port?, what are the name of the hotels closest to the port?, what are good places to go before or after the cruise?, etc) I also ran a quick poll on the forum and asked people if they were willing to use the App if it was free or paid. 70 % said they will use it if it was free, 25% said they were willing to buy it, so I decided to give it away and just get revenue from the iAds. I have contacted the forum administrator to see if they would be willing to showcase the App, and I am waiting to hear from them, but in the mean time I posted an entry on the forum to let the readers know about the App. I think it went well. I just checked iTunes Connect and it got 25 downloads overnight. Let me know if you have any other questions : )

jgomez, I really like the app. Thanks for providing us with your thought process for creating it. That has my wheel turning right now. Good Luck!
