Failed to install newuserproject_Android.apk on device 'emulator-5554!

Hi, Im trying to launch my app in the simulator/emulator in eclipse and I am constantly getting the above error message. I have no idea why this is happening and could really use some advise. Below is all the messages I had when launching the app. Thanks, Ross M [2013-07-20 03:16:25 - newuserproject_Android] ------------------------------ [2013-07-20 03:16:25 - newuserproject_Android] Android Launch! Not having experienced this, I can only go along with what I've found; your code is trying to start before the emulator is ready. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5994026/failed-to-install-helloandroid-apk-on-device-emulator-5554 http://stackoverflow.com/questions/6376722/failed-to-install-apk-on-device-emulator-5554-eof http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4775603/android-error-failed-to-install-apk-on-device-timeout Hope this helps! (If you have an Android Device, that would be the preferred test platform). Cheers! -- Smug

umm, make sure your computer has drivers (on a mac they're built in) and have it plugged in when you run the App... At least, it works for me. If you're running a PC, you may want to check out a few of Go North West's tutorials; he seems to have documented Eclipse on everything. https://www.buzztouch.com/resources http://www.youtube.com/gonorthwest Cheers! -- Smug

>What do I need to do in Eclpise to test run it on my phone? You need to download the driver for your Android device. Connect the device to the computer via a USB cable and let the device connect to it. Run Eclipse and be patient -- do not do anything, until you see that the workspace in the lower right angle of Eclipse windows is read in. Then tell Eclipse to run on your device by visiting Left click on package name in Package Explorer Right clik on the same name and left click on Run As then on Run Configurations Then left clik on Target and left clik on Launch on all compatible devices Then Run. ===== Be sure to watch all the introductory videos for Android Path, too.

Thanks everyone. Dusko, I did everything you suggested and the following message shows up "No active compatible AVD's or devices found. Relaunch this configuration after connecting a device or starting an AVD." I downloaded the driver for my galaxy S4, connected it to my windows 7PC etc, any ideas what is wrong? Ross M

Go to the DDMS view in Eclipse (just a left button click on an icon in the upper right corner of Eclipse) and see if the device is recognized. If you see it, then it should run on the device, otherwise, the device is not connected. Did you allow for the USB debugging on the device? You can restart the ADB using this advice: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11485878/android-device-appears-offline-despite-plugging-in-usb-and-switching-on-usb-debu
