'Woodstock' is now out and about!

My latest and greatest app is now out public on Apple's app store. It's been a tricky journey, because I had to stop half way through my project (due to a problem with my other apps) and then for the last few weeks, I've come up with new ideas all the time. So it's called 'Woodstock' and it's a tourist guide app for visitors to the beautiful Cotswold town on Woodstock and Blenheim Palace. (Woodstock in England, not the one famous for Jimi Hendrix). I am looking to get an iPad app soon, however, my priority is to turn to Android development. I have little idea with Android. I have made half an app with Android, before giving up and sticking to iOS. But I still have all the knowledge on how to get the simulator running (I spent weeks trying to figure that one out!). The Woodstock tourist season has begun to start here, so I'm designing my leaflets now and I'll get them by the end of the week. I'd like to thanks you guys for helping me. I have posted questions on the forums, regarding about features on the app, but I'd like to give a special thanks to Kittsy who has helped me integrate one new unique feature which was the cherry on the top of the cake. I'd also like to thank my fellow app meet attendess, because I have learnt a bit on how to market and stuff from just you people. But most importantly, I'd like to say thanks to Buzztouch and its community. Here is my link to the app: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/woodstock/id673363385?ls=1&mt=8 I hope you like it, and please do give a good review. Thomas Boyd Annandale Apps

Downloading it now :) Dude, I absolutely LOVE those menus! How did you get the image as a menu cell separator? (ah! I got it now; part of the image. Clever! Cool!) Cheers! -- Smug Everything looks absolutely fantastic... 'except', the events menu is rather odd... some menu cells look ok, and other cells are 'huge' and way larger than the cell container. This is on my iPad, 1st Gen running iOS 5.1 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/115208762/aaws.png

@Smug - That isn't meant to happen. I'll look into that bug. I've got an iPad 1 to test on as well. But an iPad version should be coming out soon @Everyone Else - thanks for the feedback

@Annandale Apps looks amazingly professional. Was nice to put a face behind the name and to see you at the LAMP training session. Keep up the great work. David

Congratulations! Just downloaded the app and it looks really slick. Might even visit Woodstock as you've done a great job in promoting the town, it looks like a really nice place to visit. Good stuff

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. it's means a lot, since I have been working on this app for many months now. I'm trying to strike up a deal with Blenheim Palace that will either be part of my app, or be a different app. This will give me much more downloads, and boost the app in so many ways. With Blenheim Palace support, it could be a very big app. @Rohan... wait for when my app will have discount codes and coupons in my app.

@Annandale Apps Very nice looking app! Great Job! Just a thought, you might want to update the link in your profile>published apps as it's not working.

@Annandale Apps. Great job, Tom. Writing review now. Just a couple of suggestions: - you might want to add the BACK button for the Events screens - might want to consider if the app gets popular if this will interfere with the Weather # of calls to API. Cheers Steve

Most excellent example of a great app done with several plugins. Congratulations! @smug -- He used Danny's BTA Design Menus plugin, it is a nice plugin! I too miss the Back button in the upper-left. The iOS users have been trained to use the Back button, even though (in most cases) hitting the Tab button will suffice. @Tom -- What unique feature did Kittsy do for you? Please do tell ... :-) @Tom -- The Town History needs a "grow font size" button. Us older folks can't even read that text at that small size. (I am on an iPhone 5) @Tom -- check out Susan's and Alfred's apps for giving people a walking tour and both have a grow font-size capability (they used the HTML plugin) Susan's Think Hopkins - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/think-hopkins-minnesota/id554549991?mt=8 Alfred's Gilbert Heritage District - https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/gilbert-heritage-district/id627044389?mt=8

Hi guys, Thanks for the suggestions. I have been looking qt trying to implement a back button, but I hate the look of nav bars! Even when I make my own, it comes out a horrible Arial font. As for the PDF showing the Town History, you can zoom in, although I have been recording myself giving a voice read it out to you. Kittsy's unique feature was implementing route in the Town Tour. I bad issues with that, but it works nicely now. One thing I will ask is how to change the generic font from Arial to a custom font?

I did want to mention that route/tour overlay looks really nice. Kudo's to you and Kittsy. I'm totally green with envy; I'm not sure if I'll be able to do that with my embedded maps. Unless Kittsy wants a real challenge, lol! I created a custom font tutorial from a few BT posts... https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/115208762/btcustomfonts.pdf If you want to change the fonts in the NavBar, ARound line 227 of 'BT_viewUtilities.m' make changes 'similar' to... //sets the title text from the jsonVars if([[BT_strings getJsonPropertyValue:theScreenData.jsonVars nameOfProperty:@"navBarTitleText" defaultValue:@""] length] > 0){ [theViewController.navigationItem setTitle:[BT_strings getJsonPropertyValue:theScreenData.jsonVars nameOfProperty:@"navBarTitleText" defaultValue:@""]]; //font color code theViewController.navigationController.navigationBar.titleTextAttributes = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: [UIFont fontWithName:@"[YourCustomFontNameGoesHereWithoutBrackets]" size:20], UITextAttributeFont, nil]; } Cheers! -- Smug

Nice job on the How-to, Smug! I posted it to the How-to's and I gave you some points for your efforts. Thank you for taking the time to write this up!
