Help need!

Hi, I'm a little stuck.... I downloaded my android app to my pc, came in a zip file. Now trying to open it in eclipse and I dont know how to this. I have downloaded Eclipse 4.3 which I believe is the correct version, see <a href="http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/technology/epp/downloads/release/kepler/R/eclipse-standard-kepler-R-win32.zip" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/download.php?file=/technology/epp/downloads/release/kepler/R/eclipse-standard-kepler-R-win32.zip</a> Can someone tell me how I open my file and see a demo on eclipse? Sorry if this is in the wrong part of the forum Thanks, Ross M

Use this version of eclipse: https://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html There are some pdf's in the How To section of this website that will help you get the app loaded into Eclipse. https://www.buzztouch.com/resources/

all parts of the forum are the right parts of the forum. :) I'd suggest you take a look at the videos in the 'Buzztouch University' section of the website; it has nice tutorials showing you how things fit together. Along with that, there should have been a 'instructions.pdf' file that was inside the zipped package along with your code... That also has some good information and is suggested reading; especially in Android, when it comes time to change from 'Android v2.2' to 'Google v2.2'. As well, if you've installed eclipse, it doesn't come with all the SDK's normally; you have to download them in addition to everything else (just once, but you have to do it). Check out the Videos GoNorthWest did on Android; they're pretty good. They are up in his youtube channel, 'http://www.youtube.com/gonorthwest'. Hope this helps! Cheers! -- Smug

Hi Ross, You'll for sure want to download the Eclipse ADT Bundle, which has everything you need in a single package (except Java). And check out my YouTube channel that Smug mentioned above, as it has a start-to-finish video to help you out! Welcome to Buzztouch! Mark

Thanks everyone, I have downloaded https://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html (32bit version) to my windows vista pc and i have a problem..... In the Java - ADT program, when I click on "file" then "new", there is no option for "android project" According to the instructions, I need to "This means you will need to finish installing the Android SDK components before continuing." I dont know how to do this! Pls help! Thanks, Ross

It sounds like you have the same version I do :) What I do is go to "New" > "Other" > "Android Application from an existing project" (Ok, that last menu choice is an 'estimate' of what's actually there; I'm not in Eclipse right now, so you may have to snoop around a bit) That should get you going again. Cheers! -- Smug
