Messaging Plugin

I have a client who wants to send daily messages to her users without SMS charges and outside of push notifications. In other words, she has a "thought of the day" she needs to send out everyday. Anyone know if any of our plugins have this capability or can we do this through Scringo?

It shouldn't be an issue to make a webpage that 'includes' a text file (with a thought of the day) and have it not cache. Then the client can just update that include file whenever... either by web, or you can have your app update from her device... it's up to you. Cheers! -- Smug

>and have it not cache. Technically, how do you do that?

In the HTML plugin, under 'document behavior' there is a 'no cache' (force refresh) setting. Cheers! -- Smug

Or an RSS feed tied to a blog? Incidentally, why does your client not want to use push?

Twitter may work great in this case: Custom URL to a twitter account. Another option would be to have a splash screen with a URL and stop the plugin from Caching the image. Every day it would fetch a new image from the same URL. All the client would have to do is change out the iPhone and iPad device images on the server to change the message. Jake

BT Blog Pro plug in could work and I can add my client as a user in my control panel since I'm now hosting my package from a host server. All I have to do is show her how to make entries. Right?

BT Blog Pro will work, but you can just set up a simple HTML screen "tip of the day" also. I would recommend having your app auto refresh upon launch. That way the user will see all updates with out having to click the refresh button every time. This will ensure that those daily posts are seen. http://www.buzztouch.com/files/howtos/AutomaticRefresh.pdf Tony @ Buzztouch
