Android App Hijacking? Improbable, but possible...

http://www.theatlanticwire.com/technology/2013/07/theres-zombie-security-flaw-almost-every-android-phone/66858/ It's worth the read, just to be up on that sort of thing... I'm pretty boring; all my stuff is in Google Play only anyway... Cheers! -- Smug

Interesting but not surprising. Wonder if this is per OS or if we can actually protect our applications from getting modified (throw up a wall ourselves, that is). Good read. Thanks. David https://buzztouchmods.com

Well, it 'says' those apps in the Google Play store are immune, I guess due to some magic Google has that no one else possesses ;) I would have thought the app checksum would be altered if *any* thing was changed, but if not, or if there is a way to 'spoof' the checksum, then they're far better than I, so I'm just crossing my fingers and keeping my nose clean, lol! Interesting post @SmugWimp, thanks, but it's funny that a security scaremongering report has come from a security startup.. I like this comment - "I'm just going to assume that this "security startup" is trying to make a name and drum up some money. Basically, I have to side load malware to get this virus? Gee, let me see. First, check off "unknown sources" in my security settings on Android. Then look for a pirated virus laden version of software from a torrent / dodgy site. Then click to install the APK and say YES PLEASE to the warning that I may be exposing myself to malware. Wow, that was easy! Only 4 steps to infect myself! As for the "worst case scenario". HTC, Sony, Samsung et al have to package the virus with their own OS and apps before release to the public? Seriously? Of course that's worst case! Any company that packages a virus with their OS would certainly be worst case!"
