Age old question - image/file hosting!!

Hi all, After a shocking experience with Dropbox, i'm looking for an alternative for hosting my images. I'm at a point where bandwidth is becoming an issue so im happy to pay for a good and fast speed service. I'd be interested to hear peoples experiences if you would like to share them please.. Thanks.

I think it really depends on your budget each month? I pay to have a dedicated server, cost me a fair bit £245 per month, but I am using a very high spec server, for many reasons. Dedicated servers prices start from about £45/50 upwards, but be warned, you don't get the high level support you use to get. So it's a very steep learning curve.

Are there any hosts like Dropbox that do the job well?

I have my hosting through networks solutions. It averages out to about $13 a month per year. I have the 'basic' package. Cheers! -- Smug

A little different, and maybe not as user friendly for this purpose, but it looks like flickr is now offering unlimited monthly bandwidth on free accounts. http://www.flickr.com/help/limits/

Only thing about Flickr is that you need a new account for every photostream. Fine to keep separate logins for separate apps but if you want lots of categoriesyou need lots of logins for the same app. However, looking at what they give for free it seems a small price to pay (parden the pun!). Great spot @mleonard :)

Yeah that's the worst thing about Flickr...but like Alex says, it's probably not that bad. Also, if you're using Gmail, you can do this to avoid creating multiple email addresses...just write everything down ha. http://www.labnol.org/internet/multiple-email-addresses-in-gmail/17426/

Try these post: Its simple and easy like the normal photostream but photosets are easy at least for the gallery. if you want users to upload -> then yes you'll need a separate login unfortunately https://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=2C6644B3DF963BFD4B951E8&fid=127FE84288EBDBCF646C715&sortColumn=FT.id&sortUpDown=&currentPage=6 http://www.buzztouch.com/forum/thread.php?tid=DFBAD2F0E8F992A06BEA074&fid=F20BFC687F9577D1949F487&sortColumn=FT.id&sortUpDown=DESC&currentPage=1

Another vote for self hosting. You can find hosting with decent traffic limits for <$10/month. Its important to look at how much data you can transfer on a certain pricing plan and compare them between different providers. Services like hostgator will throttle the speeds to 10mbps after you pass a certain amount of traffic. $3-5 per month for shared hosting with cpanel at a service like hostgator. My favorite website for finding hosting. http://www.webhostingtalk.com/

Do you know how much traffic you are generating?

I'll look at image shack too, cheers. I do self host but when I upload images, etc to my server they do not appear in the app?! No idea what traffic I generate, suffice to say when I send out push to one app it has over 8k requests. The app has been live a month.

I'm a little bit late to the topic here, but I'm a plus one for hostgator!
