Moving older threads to the top of the list

Is it possible to make an old thread move to the top of the list in its section AND show up in the "newest topics" section in the forums page to save making new threads and opening up cans of worms which have already been opened a while back? The thing is, if a topic was discussed 6 months ago and someone uses the "search" option to look for answers and they ask a question inside that old thread, nobody will see it as it doesn't move to the top of the list and remains 6 months in line pages from sight. What does everyone think or is there something i don't know about?

I like this idea! The search can be difficult so this would help to find popular post where the thread has been updated. But that is the point of subscribing as well.

The thing is only the people that subscribed (if they did) would receive an email even if it is 6 months old but others who did not see the original post would miss it.

I agree and my subscribed post are getting out if hand. I like to subcribe to post for this very reason that you mention and to have the thread handy ust in case.
