Same App, different data

I'm looking to build a generic app for a local shops, that I would submit to the app store and get approved once. At the moment I have to do an individual app for each shop. The idea that you download the app, enter the name of the business and a password and then the app menu's graphics and content are downloaded to customise the app specifically to that business. Is this do-able and if so, what would be involved? If anyone has some insight, I'd be interested to hear from you please.

Is it doable? Of course. Forgive me if I feel it might turn out a little rube goldberg. However, if you think it out and plan it right, I bet the 'Stobe Json Snippet Keeper' will probably be your friend. If you could somehow get the snippet keeper to hold all the values for the different companies, I think you might be able to pull it off. Cheers! -- Smug

Why go to a single app model? Would seem less user-friendly and less profitable for you. But...if I were to do this, I would be using php to generate my JSON data on the fly. In fact, I do this already for my church apps. Each app calls home to the same php script, but sends some identifying information so the script knows what JSON to return.

I have one main reason, not sure how good it is (lol). Its mostly because I am always uncertain whether the app store will accept or reject my apps. So if I have one that is accepted and I just tweak the content for different uses, it makes that side easier. I have had reviewer inconsistency (as a lot of us have), so I see a risk to submitting slightly different versions of the same app to the app store. It wouldn't always have to be single app model, but it might help. I had a single church app (btw, this isn't a church app) and I had a set of content for Church 'A' and different content for Church 'B', presumably I would use a login page and tell people how to login, which loads the custom pages for 'A' or 'B'. I think the concept sounds great, but I'm unclear on how would I do the back end php stuff. Is there any detail here that you could share @chris1, or a direction you could point me in? Cheers, Alan

I would check with Stobe - he was working on a plugin that allows you to change an entire bt_condig.txt file from within the app.

Cheers for the tip Chris, I'll follow that up.
